He's un-officially thrown his hat in the Presidential RATPool fer '04 because I think he realizes that his reputation is too tainted to rewin his Senate seat another time around. Remember, South Dakota went heavy fer Dubyuh last year and Daschle's setting himself up as the anti-Dubyuh.

To the best of my knowledge, Daschle has not announced publicly that he will not be returning as Majority Leader, so I'm not sure what "reasons" you are referring to, so please expound.

Dubyuh's Daddy was/is an honorable man, but a lightweight compromiser of a politician...so many of that generation are!! Robert Dole, George H.W. Bush, and a whole bunch of them seem to believe that slowing the expansion of an all-powerful Federal Leviathan to a relative creep is acceptable to us RightWingWhackos...well, IT AIN'T!! A Central Governing Bureaucracy that siphons off over 24% of the Gross Domestic Product annually is 2-3 (or even 4) times as large as it needs to be!!
