I kicked this topic off with a phone call from a listener who wishes the GOP would emulate Daschle's tactics so that we could succeed. Folks, I couldn't have disagreed more. The man is a syrupy phony, who actually wants the recession to continue so he can gain political power!
"Why would we want to emulate the leader of a group that's resorting to smearing Christians and other people of faith by comparing them to the Taliban? They're actually so desperate, they're doing just that! I'm not making it up. So why would we want to do that? Why would we want to lie about math itself, claiming that a $38 billion tax-revenue reduction in 2002 eliminated a $313 billion surplus? Shouldn't we instead give the American people the facts, as I have done so often? Shouldn't the President go before the American people with the truth?
"Of course! That's why I've been imploring the president to do a speech on the stimulus package. Well, guess what? Instead of demagoguing and lying like Daschle, the president is going to embark on a series of public meetings.
