A long time ago, I received an e-mail which went something like, "Would you be in favor of abortion under the following circumstances?" Then it listed several different pregnancy scenarios -- all involving poverty, illegitimacy, desperation, etc. One of the scenarios went something like, "A teenage girl is pregnant, her fiancee is not the father, and he is very upset. Would you be in favor of abortion?" Then at the bottom, it said, "If you said yes, you just aborted Jesus Christ." The other scenarios also turned out to be true stories of famous people who ended up contributing much to the world, and it would have been tragic had they been aborted. It was a very powerful way of "waking up" people who think it's "compassionate" to be in favor of abortion "under certain circumsances."

. Joseph set aside his honor, emotions and heart-break to save the life of a pre-born child that he believed to belong to another man.
Not quite...............
Matthew 1
18. This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
19. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
20. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
21. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."
22. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:
23. "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" --which means, "God with us."
24. When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.
25. But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

Matthew 1:19-24 "Whereupon Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing publicly to expose her, was minded to put her away privately. But while he thought on these things, behold the angel of the Lord appeared to him in his sleep, saying: Joseph, son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her, is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name Jesus. For he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which the Lord spoke by the prophet, saying: Behold a virgin shall be with child and bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God is with us. And Joseph rising up from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took unto him his wife." Douay-Rheims

Thankfully, Joseph heeded his dream.

But this was not an option for Joseph. The merciful, compassionate and unpopular decision to save the lives of both the woman and her unborn baby was made by a man who, in his understanding at the moment, had been betrayed, cheated, shamed and heart-broken.

This was, indeed, his state of mind before the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. He didn't believe her at first.

If America's men are to save our country, they must first be able to save our children.

I think it's about time the "silent majority" speaks a little louder.

Ideas?

One more time:

"If men will follow the example of Joseph, we can end the scourge of legal abortion that is destroying both the lives of children and the soul of our nation.

How many men throughout the years, when they have impregnated their girlfriends, have "done the right thing" and married the girl? Sometimes they have been happy unions and sometimes not but I think these guys should be given credit for trying to make it right.

Our righteous men must be courageous, and bold, and selfless, and merciful, and compassionate on the issues of life.

The great thing about Joseph is the absence of self-pity. He never complained.

Orthodox icons of the Nativity frequently depict Joseph in the bottom left-hand corner, hearing out a ragged old man. This is the Evil One, tempting Joseph to deny the evidence of the revelation set out before him.
