Congressman: FBI Ignored Repeated Warnings
NewsMax ^ | Monday, Dec. 24, 2001 | Phil Brennan

Posted on 12/24/2001 1:38:06 AM PST by Michael2001

The FBI ignored several specific and sometimes frantic warnings of a Minnesota flight instructor who told the bureau that an Arab man could be planning to use a 747 jumbo jet as a flying "bomb."

The flight instructor notified the FBI about the unusual behavior of Zacarias Moussaoui, now under federal indictment for his membership in the Al-Qaeda network and his alleged role in the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center.

The flight instructor at the Pan Am International Flight Academy near Minneapolis became suspicious when Moussaoui said he wanted to learn how to fly large jet aircraft, but insisted he did not need to know how to take off or land.

In October, reports first surfaced about the flight instructor's tip-off to the bureau.

But the New York Times reported this weekend that the instructor's information was much more specific and serious.

Rep. James L. Oberstar, D-Minn., and other officials were briefed by the flight school, and Oberstar's revelations paint a picture of the FBI's negligence.

Oberstar said the instructor made a very blunt warning to the FBI. Oberstar quoted the instrucor as telling the FBI: "Do you realize that a 747 loaded with fuel can be used as a bomb?"

Oberstar called the instructor an "American hero."

Oberstar said he was told by officials of a Minnesota flight school that the instructor called the FBI several times "to find someone in authority who seemed willing to act on his warning that Moussaoui appeared to be involved in terrorist activity."

Oberstar's revelations raise new questions about why the FBI and other agencies did not act to prevent the hijackings.

Oberstar's account of the incident confirmed an Oct. 8, 2001, NewsMax.com story that despite ample indications that the man was dangerous, FBI officials in Washington ignored pleas by their agents in Minnesota for permission to check the hard drive on his computer and launch a full-scale criminal investigation of the man.

As we reported then, FBI agents on the scene asked both the CIA and French intelligence for any information they had on Moussaoui.

French intelligence officials replied that their anti-terrorist files showed him to be both an extremist and a man with highly suspicious connections to terrorist groups, having reportedly traveled to Afghanistan and Pakistan several times.

On Aug. 17, FBI agents in Minneapolis arrested Moussaoui, a French citizen, on immigration charges.

With Moussaoui in detention, agents asked FBI headquarters for permission to check his computer's hard drive and wanted to launch a full-scale criminal investigation.

Superiors at the FBI's Washington office flatly turned down the agents' request.

Only after the Sept. 11 attacks did FBI headquarters finally give approval for agents to examine Moussaouio's hard drive and open up a broader inquiry.

Reportedly, the FBI discovered that Moussaoui had compiled data on how wind patterns affect crop dusters, as well as a large amount of information on crop-dusting aircraft.

That was the critical information that led the government to ground all crop-dusting flights in the U.S. Law enforcement sources told the Times at the time that had the FBI leadership not stymied the Minneapolis probe of their local office, the information they may have unearthed, combined with other intelligence available to them, could have alerted the government to the coming disaster.

"The question being asked here is if they put two and two together, they could have gotten a lot more information about the guy – if not stopped the hijacking," one investigator told Newsweek magazine.

Why didn't these "superiors" at Washington approve of expanding the investigation? Were they afraid of offending someone. These "superiors" should be investigated in my opinion.

The answere is simple. The acronym "FBI" stands for "Feeble Bereft Idiots."

Not enough exercize, sunshine, and doing their job.

Not wanting to bother W, I'd put the Freebies on a track course working with the Navy Seals asd get these fat slobs back to business.

Further, If the spooks don't want to cooperate, these guys would be on another piece of an "investigative committee." Beleive the P is out of the loop as well.

W needs to grow this structure. I don't see Ridge making it happen.

There should be a well fomed TRIAD. Some of us are waiting for this to happen.

If W is really smart, he will deliver this message to the World. W will stand up and announce to the World that the United States of America will continue to "eliminate" terrorists using the most sophisticated resources America.

Rummy is in place. Not sure where the intelligent folks are there yet.

We'll be "cooked" on the domestic and international perception of our resolve if we don't carry out a strike against terrorism.

Schippers, attempting to get attention from gov about FBI agents being pulled off terrorism cases, was reluctant to talk to underlings and characterized agency staffers as "forming a mote" between those who have information and those who need it.

There is a lesson to be learned here. If the FBI ignores more than one or two of your calls, try something else. Call your congressman. Call congressmen on the committees that pertain to the issue. Call the newspapers. Call FOX news. Call CNN. Post of FR. Never, never trust the FBI to do the right thing.

I gave up on them when I read the whole story of the Walker spy case. Walker's wife walked into an FBI office and informed on him years before his arrest. Several other's notified the FBI years before his arrest. They were ignored.

Never, never trust the FBI to do the right thing.

PCL, You must have been following my notes. I've sent three e-mails to the feebies on how I could out-wit airport security. I challenged these twerps to come to my home. No response. My brother (X-Nam chopper pilot), friends in the P, and other belt-way guys have warned me about challenging same. My response, I'm a friggin American, and I'll show you how I can slip though the cracks, and prove that the illegal immigrant security personnel look like friggin ass-holes.

I'm still waiting for a blue Ford Victoria to show up and have three feebies wearing sunglasses to show up at my house. Maybe now if I signed my name "Reid" born in Blenheim Palace, but transferred to Afghanistan, working for Osama bin Laden under the auspices of the Islamic Al Queada networking and sleeping with Saddam Husseim and developing weapons of mass destruction for Arafat to kill all the Jews in Isreal... maybe, they might show some interest.

Don't you just love my accurate sarcasm?

Oh well... I guess we'll see how incompetant these ass-holes will be as the chapters open in the coming months.

Sure as sh!t I don't want to see Americans getting hurt, nor do I want our military guys risking their lives. However, Tenet, Ridge, Rice, Powell better have a "Come to Jesus" lesson in kickin some serious friggin tail behind back of the World Trade Center! These worms are... enough said.

Bill Clinton rarely, if ever met with the director of the CIA. Bill Clinton also insisted that Janet Reno run roughshod over Louie Freeh to keep him in line. OK, enough Clinton-Truth! AG Ashkroft needs to purge the FBI of all of those beurocrats who have lost their spine while Clinton was President and return the FBI to full stature!

When I was a child, I used to like the FBI. But that was before I found out about all their illegal wiretappings, before what they did at Waco, before they they were caught tampering with evidence to make innocent people appear guilty, etc.

Don't you think that if there was just "one" decent, honorable person working for the FBI, that they would come forward and tell of what went on at Waco, or of other illegal activity in the Bureau? The fact that not "one" single agent resigned from the Bureau and went public after Waco, and other shady operations, shows that either they are doing illegal activities, or covering up for them. I personally would not work for an entity that did those things, and I have quit a job where there was such shady activity.

"Why didn't these "superiors" at Washington approve of expanding the investigation? "

Because Clintoon still has active operatives in the FBI and other alphabet agencies that have an agenda other than this country's best interests.

Be interesting to see how many start suing the fedgov for their complacency in this matter.

The fbi is just one of thousands of govt agencies that need a top to bottom review and then many many many should be gotton rid of. The fbi brought us WACO at the beginning of the willy the worst reign of terror, so their poop is a whole lot deeper and more entrenched than since BC x-42.

I don't ever want to see the fbi in what you call "full stature" if their results are what we have observed in the last few years. I don't call open attacks on american citizens, something to be proud of, when the alligators have taken over the pond. If the fbi is to become the FBI ever again, it will earn it by solid results oriented police work, not after the fact "revelation", and cleanup of what could have been prevented.

Not to place too much blame on the fbi, had the second amendment been in effect on 9/11, we all know the results might have been just a tad different. Brought to you in memory of those heroes who were forced to use what they had, because the Constitution and the bill of rights is currently not in vogue.

--mostly it's because some but not all of the higher-ups in washington are part of the global corporate new world order nonsense. The idea of living and being 'royal" on this planet is really tempting to them, so they act on it. Power, money, glory, control-all part of this greed syndrome that infests these people once they get tastes of it. it's not unusual or farfetched at all, either.

They are actively seeking a planetary wide two class society. Having attacks occur on the US helps them bring this about. Not "all" of them but enough of them are involved. It's a loose goal, and I wouldn't maintain there is any over-all one single group or faction, but there's enough of them with similar interests to have incidents like this, the first wtc attack, the okc attack , etc, to happen. All they have to do is step back, let it happen, then voila, they kill several birds with one stone.

Look at the results-perpetual war for perpetual profits, increasing centralised big brother style government, not only in this nation but all over. Look at how chinas two class techno society is constantly rewarded, and who is putting their money and interests into expanding them, both politically and business-wise. And they have millions cheering them on. Look at who is profiting from these actions, and it goes way beyond some mad jihader puppets.

The deal is, it's way too scary for most people to even contemplate the depths that they have been lied to and faked out over the years, even the simple consideration of it gets dismissed out of hand, despite little clues like this one here.

This article is just another in a huge and overlapping stream of incidents that would support this view. It's not just 'bungling" or incompetence, these actions are taken with cold blooded intent, for exact goals as I outlined above. And here's another hint, it's all just not 'the democrats" doing it, or even just "mad jihaders" no matter how much most people insist on stopping at that exact point with their looking. We got globalist traitors in very high places, and so do other nations, their only loyalty is to themselves and to establishing this global despotic governmental structure loosely based on the surface around "national governments" but in reality based on massive financial and social control. It's really just a normal historically similar series of crimes, taken to astoundingingly high and sophisticated levels. Who profits? Always ask that with everything that happens is a good rule of thumb I think.

Agree, I wouldn't be too brutal on the rank and file agents. Remember, Slick and Reno had 8 years to get girly men promoted up through the ranks. These would have been the employees who cried during the required diversity training, multicultural retreats, etc. The same goes for the military.

Because they have gubberment jobs and are big dogs, surely nothing is expected of them, but to burn down a few compounds, withold evidence on an innocent man for thirty years, fail to turn over important papers to the Justice Dept., and just be mess ups in general.

Oberstar's revelations raise new questions about why the FBI and other agencies did not act to prevent the hijackings.

Can you say PC is above the law? It's almost obvious when you hear it:

Oberstar called the instructor an "American hero."

Allegation#1:

THE FBI IS INFILTRATED BY COCKY JERKS HIRED THANKS TO THE POLITICAL BURQUA AND THEY HATE THE AMERICAN HERO

In any case it smells of the PC atmosphere when the Challenger blew up. A small time engineer had warned the shuttle was going to blow up and the bosses laughed at him resulting in a deadly communication breakdown. The same thing happened with the WTC. It's ridiculous, we keep telling them they're cocky and are not looking at the right targets and they keep shooing people away.

The problem with the FBI is that much of their activity has been directed toward political correctness and bureaucratic perpetuation. It is that simple. Huge bureaucratic government agencies are not effective beyond short term highly focused operations; start a task, finish, and disband.

Disgraced President X-42 only used individuals that wanted to increase the size of bureaucracies(liberals). This made these agencies even more inefficient. The best way to fix this is with tax cuts.

On Aug. 17, FBI agents in Minneapolis arrested Moussaoui, a French citizen, on immigration charges.

I'm not a stauch supporter of the FBI, bu this does sound like the FBI was on the case.

With Moussaoui in detention, agents asked FBI headquarters for permission to check his computer's hard drive and wanted to launch a full-scale criminal investigation. Superiors at the FBI's Washington office flatly turned down the agents' request.

Could be valid reasons for this. We just don't have enough info.

Only after the Sept. 11 attacks did FBI headquarters finally give approval for agents to examine Moussaouio's hard drive and open up a broader inquiry.

Maybe I'm a fatalist, but I really don't know what could have been done to stop 9/11. Up until they hijacked the planes, Atta and his thugs did nothing overtly criminal, i.e. nothing that would give the FBI cause to detain or arrest them.

Unless Moussaouio named names, how could the perpetrators have been discovered ahead of time?

Reportedly, the FBI discovered that Moussaoui had compiled data on how wind patterns affect crop dusters, as well as a large amount of information on crop-dusting aircraft.

Nothing against the law here. It's a free country and one can gather info on whatever one wants. If you or I decided to gather this info, would we want an FBI agent knocking at our doors with a warrant to search our hard drives or would we want our phone tapped?

I'm not making excuses for the FBI or excusing anything this Moussaoui terrorist did, but hindsight is 20/20.

Newsweek is quoted in this article and that immediately raises red flags with me. Maybe Newsweek is getting fed up with all the charges that Clinton did nothing to stop OBL and has decided to nitpick about what Bush might have done.

The "FBI" where Corruption is a Career Opportunity

Where an estimated 5% of the top FBI agents can't pass an FBI administered polygraph test.

This is most certainly a fact. Just as these liberal media folks have been building a case for things like abject racism and ending gun ownership they will turn their sincere efforts to proving disgraced President Clinton could not have stopped terrorist attacks.
