Dick Cheney due to health reasons decides to withdrawl his name from the ticket in 2004 after a very successful term as Vice President. He figures he can still stay close to the President and advise him in any way possible, but not have to deal with the every day hustle of being the Vice-President of the country. So who would President Bush pick to be his new VP? I think Condi Rice would be a wonderful choice but I dont know if this country (especially the Republican Party) is ready for a VP who is black, a woman, and from the South (Alabama). I also love Powell but would he and Pres Bush be able to work hand in hand as P-VP? Donald Rumsfeld is a terrific Sec of Defense and I think he would make a great President one day...maybe him being VP could lead us to 8 great years of a Rumsfeld Presidency after 8 great years of Bush. Other candidates that come to mind would be Tom Ridge, Liddy Dole, Ashcroft, and dare i say it...JOHN MCCAIN ( i know, i know, but i think the Bush-MCcain ticket would be a shoe in). My pick would have to be Rice, she is worth her weight in Gold. She is a genius, works well with Bush, and would really be great for the country. And what would the naysayers say after Bush nominates a black woman to be his right hand WOMman?? I think they would just have to throw up the white flag! GO DUBYA!
Or any other reasons.
My pick would have to be Rice, she is worth her weight in Gold.
Rice has never held elective office before (she's never ran in a campaign) and she's a little bit pro-choice.
Bush could have a hard time convincing some people in the party that she's the right choice (for what it's worth, I hope he would pick her).
For VP:
Rick Santorum
I sure hope not. The guy is great. Anybody know?
From what I do know about her, while I might not agree with her 100% on the issue of Life.... I could see supporting that ticket... but I'd much rather see another Bush/Cheney ticket :)
The answer is the Republican Party has been ready for that for years, the problem is she thinks it's great that mother's have the right to kill their own children. The Republican Party isn't ready for that.
Why do posts disappear from the sidebars?

Why do posts disappear from the sidebars?
Frequently you will see posts in the sidebars that disappear from the listing. In a nutshell, posts are removed from the sidebar when they don't meet the standards for being there or they violate posting guidelines. Those guidelines are extended and amplified here as guidelines for moderators chosen to help maintain some order.Removal from listing in a sidebar category does not remove the post from FreeRepublic - it simply removes it from listing within the sidebar news category. This page will clarify the use of the sidebar categories, as well as provide the guidelines in use by moderators that assist in keeping the sidebars clear of inappropriate posts.
Counting posts of articles and all replies there are roughly 14-15 thousand posts on FreeRepublic every day. Too many for one person to keep track of, even though he spends on average about 16 hours a day on the job. Sidebar moderators have been in use for some time, but this is the first formal posting of the guidelines they use. You may expect to see this page updated as time and needs dictate.
Use of Breaking, Front page, Extended and Editorial
We strive to keep the content of the sidebars relevant to its title. There ARE exceptions, as you will read below. Generally if the post really fits none of the titles, it does not belong in the news sidebars. Although we lean toward permissive on the best of posts by many very good FreeRepublic writers, content of the post should in some way fit the title of the news category sidebar title. Briefly sidebar content should match the following criterion.
- Breaking - Hot new news - FReeper reports and activities.
- Front Page - Published news/commentary - coming FR events
- Extended - News related, data - research, updates and traditional threads
- Editorial - published editorials, and the best written of FR opinion
Powell... naw.. born 1937.... His time has passed for a Presidential/VP run
