Curious About Freeper's Views Of Joyce Meyer

"You got me plum-hypnotized," Elmer Gantry says to Sister Sharon Falconer in that film/novel.

Is that the case with me over Joyce Meyer?

She seems pretty good at down-home preachin'. And while not a classic beauty, she yet ministers out a fair amount sex appeal, along with the word.

(I think, ultimately, it's those Texas/Missouri eyes.)

I post this to philosophy since, as I know she has a fair amount of, at least internet detractors, it yet seems that her ability to project the Word, is as anchored in the integrity of faith as any other TV preacher I can recall.

...Except perhaps the late Bishop Fulton J Sheen.

In short though, Meyer lately fascinates me, and I'm curious what other Freepers may think. Particularly Evangelicals!

Thanks, and Merry Christmas to All!

If that is "pegging it" then you are sad. Odd that PFO's statement of faith closely resembles Meyer's.

Re: #273: You seem very confused.

No I'm sure of what I say. Am I perfect? No indeed but I am forgiven and Saved By Grace

What does the biblical doctrine of grace extended by the ONE True God have to do with the UNbiblical teachings of false teachers like Meyer, Hagee, et.al., who don't even believe in that God? They teach a "different" God. Since you don't choose to believe me,

I don't have to believe you. Nor do I have to believe them. The truth is I'm not in 100% agreement with any standing teaching of any church. But I listen to learn not to destroy. Billy Graham has one of the best tallents to deliver messages of salvation. It is his gift. Yet he is accused as a heritic by many simply because he does not Baptise at his crusades. Neither did Paul.

I listen to Hagee for understanding of Hebrew traditions to understand parrables & prophecies in that respect the man is brilliant so is Zola Levitt. I read Max Lucado for uplifting of spirit he's a great writter. Are any of them perfect and in the direct word of GOD probably not nor is your preacher. Somewhere you and Viva learned some very unChristian teachings that eat at your soul in hate or jealousy of others teachings. I would question the person teaching you and spreading this type of message.

I have dealt with about every tipe of misinterpitation that can be handed down. That includes a Pentacostal who told my wife her lack of faith kept her in a wheel chair. That's rubish. Adversity is GOD's tempering tool. We face it to grow. I've been through the dark valleys when only those condemned in here would offer sound scriptural advise they were Nuns actually. No I'm not RC either but I was willing to except their wisdom and advice as was my wife. That has led so far to 16 years of a happy marriage despite two persons being disabled. I don't need your narrow misplaced opinions of preachers and the GOSPEL. I do however rely on the Grace of GOD both for salvation and strenght to do what has been asked of me and blessed by him for me to do. I know that my own weaknesses both mental and spititual make me dependent on GODS Sufficent Grace.

How sure am I? Very sure. The same GOD who told me 16 years ago "It was OK" at the lowest time of my life will convict me in spirit the very same way when I am wrong. Yea he's done that as well. To that I believe with all my being. But I want you to consider this. Many persons have been brought to Christ through the messages delivered by these persons. It may not be the message for you to convict you but it may mean an eternity of heaven or hell for others. Do you dare question GOD's plan in others lives? Do you know the person or sermon that can through the power of the Holy Spirit open their hearts? GOD made each person different with individual callings and tallents. I recall him making no one JUDGE of mans eternal salvation. Only GOD can do as much. Will he see Christ in you and not your sins? That alone is the heart of the matter. You are treading on dangerous ground determing other Christ based ministry's rights or wrongs. Now if we were talking about anything other than Judeo Christian faiths I might agree with you. But to condemn brothers and sisters in Christ who have devoted themselves to his ministry and then judge them for it? Not me. Let's leave it to GOD OK?

Now I completely understand your confusion. David Clous is your source. The man who wrote in his own book/booklet that John is the Son in critiquing biblical translations.

Cloud joins those few careless readers who mistake their own poor reading comprehension skills for error on the part of the material they are reading.

Just as David would not touch Saul's garment while recognizing God's annointing on him so should we be extremely discerning about those we criticize.

Funny that you would bring that up.... for that was on my heart this morning. I tread carefully before coming against a minister... because of what I've heard or another's criticism of them. I listen... pray for discernment...then go to the Word to see if what they're teaching, is Biblically sound. Almost every minister I know...has made honest mistakes at one time or another. They're human. Anyway, thanks for bringing that to the fray. It's a good reminder for all of us. :)

I have a very good friend who, along with her husband, does a lot of prison ministry work and is very strong in her walk. She loves Joyce Meyer.

By the way, is this the same David Cloud who says that "Billy Graham does not have a good attitude toward biblical reproof. He has refused to turn from the path of plain disobedience, and he slanders those who have loved him and God’s Word enough to attempt to correct him. Billy Graham was warned. He has had many opportunities to repent. Sadly, he has clung steadfastly to the course of disobedience to God’s Word".

From his own website in reference to Graham's inclusion of the Catholic brethren in his ministry/crusades.

This man could only dream of reaching millions for Christ as Graham has done. What a judgemental oaf.

I have read your posts and I agree with all that you have said. Sadly, we have those modern day Pharisees among us. You are right, there is not one minister who has not made an error. I, like you, make every effort to line everything spoken and every action I see up to the Word and pray for wisdom and revelation. Great posts LaineyDee. God bless!

This is what the Christian Research Institute, a very reputable organization, had to say about Joyce Meyer:
Joyce Meyer is a popular Pentecostal preacher living outside of St. Louis, MO, who has been in fulltime ministry since 1980. She is a best-selling author in the Christian market, and her books cover everything from America’s Christian heritage to weight-loss. But she is perhaps best known from her radio and television program, Life in the Word, both of which are broadcast nationally and internationally.

Meyer shares the platform from time to time with Word of Faith teachers like, for example, Kenneth Copeland, Jesse Duplantis, Benny Hinn, and T.D. Jakes. CRI is critical of and concerned with some of her practices and teachings...

Thanks guys ..I read this thread when it first started and had no clue where to start.

Scripture warns us about false teachers in the last days..That whole "Faith Movement" is a counterfeit of the faith that scripture talks about.

How can a woman be a minister?

Very easy... she picks up the Bible and teaches scripture. Just like you've been doing all along on this message board...to MEN and women. :)

Lady, Billy Graham has done more for spreading Christianity than you or David Cloud could ever dream of, especially with your condemning attitude. Concerning your condemnation; please be aware that there is no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus. That includes Joyce Meyers AND Billy Graham and every other believer on this board.

Rev. Graham has humbly and faithfully ministered to millions of souls, many of whom were led to eternal life through his ministry. Your vile accusations of his supposed apostacy are sickening. You are a viper. You are pharasaical in your messages.

Contrary to what you say, God will use ANYONE He so chooses to spread His gospel. ANYONE. You are no one to say who God can or will use in ministry. You blatantly call Meyers a "butch" while you follow the words of a professed liar yourself. Oh ye hypocrite.

You follow a legalistic doctrine that enslaves which is contrary to the freedom that Jesus gives. In doing so, you profess a style of Christianity that is abhorent in the eyes of God.

I will not allow you to be a stumbling block for me. Regardless of how you would love to limit God's ability to use his servants you can't and I, for one, am thankful for that.

You have not said one edifying word in this entire thread that may help someone struggling with his/her faith. You have condemned those in the ministry who have attained a spiritual maturity that you obviously have not. You have condemned those who have devoted their lives to ministering to the flock. What have YOU sacrificed for God?

You have repeatedly condemned Meyer's for her own admissions that she was not always a perfect mom. I dare declare that you are not a perfect mother either. That is casting stones. We know what the bible says about that, don't we? Or did God appoint you His judge and jury without telling the rest of us?

Regardless of your resentment towards Meyers, she has and is continuing to reach the souls of and edify the women of the church. Your vicious accusations against her are transparent.

Yes actually Christ was approached by a woman who even had the nerve to question a Rabbi's answer. And in public no less. Did he say begone go to your husband? No here is the actual event. Notice closely the attitude of the disciples and the actions and words of Christ.

Jesus Sends a Demon Out of a Girl (Mark 7:24-30)

21Jesus then left Galilee and went north to the region of Tyre and Sidon.

22 A Gentile£ woman who lived there came to him, pleading, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! For my daughter has a demon in her, and it is severely tormenting her."

23But Jesus gave her no reply—not even a word. Then his disciples urged him to send her away. "Tell her to leave," they said. "She is bothering us with all her begging."

24Then he said to the woman, "I was sent only to help the people of Israel—God’s lost sheep—not the Gentiles."

25But she came and worshiped him and pleaded again, "Lord, help me!"

26"It isn’t right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs," he said.

27"Yes, Lord," she replied, "but even dogs are permitted to eat crumbs that fall beneath their master’s table."

28"Woman," Jesus said to her, "your faith is great. Your request is granted." And her daughter was instantly healed.

"Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak: but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also says the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only? If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord" (1 Cor. 14:34-37).

This is exactly what I was referring to in my statement in Reply # 297. Paul addresses the issue that the brethren were having about the women in the church speaking and he answers it with the questions . What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?. Everyone ignores his 3 questions, but his 3 questions contain the answer for me.

What he is saying to me is that the WORD did not come to the brethren only therefore they were not the only one to receive or speak the WORD. He is stating that the law says they are to keep silent, but we are not under that law through Jesus.

If you can explain why the 3 questions are there I would like to hear your explanation.

Yes, Hagee and Levitt are great. Coming from a Jewish background ( my father converted to Christianity early in my life, oh the horror, LOL ) I would say that Levitt is really brilliant. Hagee has a keen insight to the customs and rituals and their relevances to today's believers and he explains them well.

Because of my father's conversion and his family's resulting "shame", I was around my paternal family very little so what I picked up was from him. Levitt and Hagee have helped me understand my ancestral roots.
