Almost everyone who has worked with adolescents can see the damage drugs (both legal and illegal) do to the independence, aspirations, and accomplishments of kids.
People tend to see things in terms of their own circle of acquaintances. You must be in an environment where people don't see the negatives of drugs as outweighing any kick one derives from their use.
I don't know of anyone who thinks adolescents using drugs is a desirable thing. I absolutely think they should be kept out of kids' hands. It's consenting adults we're talking about here, not children.
Incidentally, you are aware it's far easier for kids to get illegal drugs than alcohol? Do you realize that's because alcohol is legal and controlled?
