Under the Gun

Though her 2000 presidential campaign proved a dismal failure, Elizabeth Dole did say some useful things about gun control. Assault weapons should be banned, she argued, noting, correctly, that "you don't need an AK-47 to defend your family." Gun-show vendors should require a three-day waiting period for buyers. And "it's wrong," she declared, "to let people carry concealed weapons." Considering that most GOP presidential candidates furiously suck up to the National Rifle Association, Dole's positions were refreshing--even if cynics suggested they were a Sister Souljah ploy to make her stand out in a crowded primary field. These days, however, Liddy is running for Senate in North Carolina. And given the state's gun-friendliness--and the fact that she faces two conservative primary challengers--the last thing she wants to do is stand out on gun control. And so, in a statement to a local gun-rights group last month, Dole explained that she has now concluded that the assault weapons ban doesn't work. North Carolina's concealed weapons law isn't "wrong"-- it's a "common sense proposal." And as for imposing new waiting periods at gun shows, "We do not need new restrictions on those who already observe the thousands of gun laws on the books." A flip-flop of this magnitude can't help but raise the question: Was Liddy expressing her sincere beliefs last year, or is she expressing them now? And does she even know?

Was Liddy expressing her sincere beliefs last year, or is she expressing them now? And does she even know? A good question. I fear that Liddy is John McCain with big hair, Jim Jeffords in a skirt.

I wouldn't trust her and I wouldn't vote for somebody so wishy-washy.

"you don't need an AK-47 to defend your family." What is she to know what I need to defend my family? If that b!tch keeps taking guns away from families and let criminals have them, I sure will need the AK-47, and the automatic version.

Oh Liddy knows alright. She knows exactly which direction she wants the country to go. She's just unsure sometimes of the audience she happens to be addressing. Which way to lean for that particular group. And unfortunately for the conservatives here in NC, we will now have a Republican John Edwards.

Liddy is as milti-faced as al gwhore. She will say anything, and do anything to get elected.
Before gwhore started his presidential aspirations in '88, he was the NRA's golden boy who voted pro-gun virtually 100% of the time. Practically overnight he flip-flopped like a landed carp and voted anti-freedom virtually every time.
Liddy would be the WRONG choice.

And "it's wrong," she declared, "to let people carry concealed weapons." OK, fine. Open carry it is. Thank you, Liddie.

Liddy Dole is a Creature Of Washington. You can detect it in her Helmet HairDoo (tm) or in just about anything she says or doesn't say.

Another RINO who needs all Republican support pulled out from under her. More than that..she needs to stay home and out of politics altogether.. another stupid female mucking things up. And yes, to those of you who don't know me, I'm female, and I blame stupid females for spearheading the whole idea of gun control.

Was Liddy expressing her sincere beliefs last year, or is she expressing them now? Why, both times. Her true, sincere beliefs are whatever the poll numbers say at the moment and location.

Was Liddy expressing her sincere beliefs last year, or is she expressing them now? The question implies that she has some.
I suspect otherwise.

Didnt she also suggest that the drinking age be raised to 25 at one point in the past?
To: white trash redneck
I wouldn't trust her as far as I can spit! I think she's depending on her good looks to get herself elected.
To: PhatPhreddy
she's a wolf in sheeps clothing! She sure knows how to sound like a conservative when she's looking to get elected!
To: Carbon
she's a first class phoney!!!
