CBS NEWS VETERAN CALLED 'TRAITOR'; WRITES BOOK EXPOSING ELITE BIAS **World Exclusive** In the first defection of its kind, a 28-year veteran of CBS NEWS has written a tell-all book which names names and exposes elite media bias and slated coverage of events. The DRUDGE REPORT has obtained the first copy of BIAS, A CBS INSIDER EXPOSES HOW THE MEDIA DISTORT THE NEWS -- an explosive new work by CBS NEWS veteran Bernard Goldberg. The book set for release in January, presents an unprecedented blueprint of media bias as documented by an insider. "Bernie Goldberg is a G-ddamn traitor," a CBS NEWS executive said late Friday. "The book is trash written by a bitter man who is now determined to settle a score." Writing that he's never voted for a Republican for elected office, Goldberg exposes the bias he witnessed first hand during the nearly three decades he spent at the network. Goldberg zeros in on CBS NEWS anchor Dan Rather and current CBS NEWS President Andrew Heyward, who is quoted as saying: "Look Bernie, of course there's a liberal bias in the news. All the networks tilt left." MORE

He wrote a column before showing the liberal tilt in the media...now a book. Even if he is a Dem, this guy is on my "good team" list.

Gee. Tell us something we didn't already know. So i guess because those of us are the "great unwashed", no one listens to us until one of their own defects.

MAYBE THERE ARE A FEW SLUMBERING MCAINIAC REPUBLICANS THAT JUST MAY DECIDE TO WAKE THEIR STUPID SLUMBERING A$$ UP.

Requesting the library order a book for you is a great way to backdoor good reading material into circulation. I was surprised at how easy it was,the two or three times that I've done it:just walk up to the desk and request they order the book. A week or so later, they call you and tell you that it's there for you to check out.

And they all turned on each other with their swords and killed each other off.

Who said the Old Testament is passe'?

He had been trying to raise the issue before, but did not have the guts to tell the public until then. He was tryig to raise it as an issue at CBS....where it failed obviously and that is why he had to bring it to the public's attention, losing his job as a result. I consider this not an accomplice, but simply someone who was trying to work from the inside to accomplish change until he had no choice but to be a whistleblower when it was clear there would be no reform.

you have a big library, or is it a small town one? If it is big city one, it probably can buy more books.

Yeah, it is, Dan.

Man, life is getting *gooder and gooder*, day by day.

McCain can finally kiss off campaign finance reform as an issue. It will never happen now.

You can bet the big three and their media tentacles will close ranks and do their best to see that reviews of this book are not carried anywhere. They don't have to deny as long as nobody (or at least not everybody) reads it.

This explains Rather reluctance, but finally, amditting to Condit having something to do with Chandra, and also his refusal to call Osama a "terrorist". Trying to head Bernard off at the pass. This is sweet. Nothing we didn't already know, it is just fun to watch them kill each other :)

the media is obscenely biased to the left

. . . or else we are obscenely gullible for thinking that their protestations of "objectivity" have substance. Considering the implications of the First Amendment, I'd say it's the latter.

Life is getting better.

Tune in next week for another best seller expose/confessionary. This time a career Academic jumps ship and publishes an expose on the rumoured left bias on the western Campus, right down to the kindergarten curriculum!

one of my (liberal) professors . . . seems to be convinced that the media has a right-wing bias

First of all, the First Amendment guarantees each of us the right to (using our own money) publicize our own perspective--it is elitism to suggest that anyone has the only true perspective (which is however the implication of the FCC's certifying that its broadcast licensees "operate in the public interest).

Secondly, when entertainment takes itself seriously it is intrinsically liberal. That is, I take it, because of its fixation on formulaic scripts with good guys, bad guys, and happy endings.

Thirdly, journalism is entertainment. The rules of what is and what is not "news" are designed to entertain. Thus the money that journalism gets (and uses to buy ink by the barrel, its source of influence) is no cleaner than the money you voluntarily donate to a candidate or party.

Journalism is nonfiction entertainment ...

Isn't it usually fictive entertainment?
