GARDEN GROVE -- Mark Rosen was fuming after waiting in line for the Harry Potter movie, but he wasn't angry about the long wait.
It was the smokers puffing away around children that upset the Garden Grove councilman. Rosen plans to propose a local law at tonight's council meeting that would ban smoking in movie lines, parks and fast-food playgrounds.

In Maine, cigarettes are $40-$50 dollars a carton now. We roll our own. For under $8.00, we get a fine carton of cigarettes. We refuse to pay that tax, also. It was killing us. But now, we smoke and save a lot of money. A LOT of money!!

That's why I contend that car ashtrays are the most useless invention ever: non-smokers don't need them, and smokers don't use them. Gee - I empty the ashtray in my vehicle every time I get in it. Just last week I pulled over to the side of the road and told a friend to go pick up the cigarette that he threw out the window.
You are making broad generalization statements here - just like the typical anti-smoker - you deal in emotionalism not fact.

I say AWAY with all these diseased (ama's statistics not mine)addicts. And you commented that I attack those who disagree with me. That sure sounds like an attack to me.

See my response to your previous post.
I have an objection to anyone that litters - any type of litter.

But thanks for proving my point: smokers are by and large un-civilized jerks who go about fouling other people's air and environment. You came to this conclusion based upon the statement of one person????
You have just shown me anti-smokers are by and large ingnorant control freaks who are more interested in self-preservation and telling others how to live because they know better how others should live their lives. In other words - they are far left liberals.
What in heaven's name are you and those like you doing at FreeRepublic???????

I wonder if he was similarly upset by the exhaust emitted from the tailpipe of his car as he drove past the children on the way to his parking space.
If these zealots are going to be against smoke, then they ought to practice what they preach.
To: Gabz
Gabz! I was wondering myself, why they are in Free Republic. I think they wake up in a pissy mood, find our posting about smoking, and come in here to try to rattle our chains. Cause they sure don't know what they are talking about. They have all been easily swayed, and it's getting to a point where I DO turn nasty! Smokers are damned tired of being tramped on! And they say WE are a nasty group. Well........just read their postings.

I am so thankful that smokers are in the minority, cause when you were the majority you were a thoughtless bunch. You don't consider that name calling????
There wouldn't be so many rabid anti smokers now if we hadn't been walked on for so many years.
Oh, I see - tit-for-tat. Because you perceive that it was done to you it is OK that you do it to others.
Well, based upon that logic, you would see no problem with me as a woman seeking to remove the right of men to vote. For how many years did men walk all over women?

It is an ugly characteristic that lies within those like you who have stumbled on a new group to hate, the "smoker." Very good point. Especially when you consider that the government is one of the biggest perpetrators of the discrimination.

No, I don't call it name calling. In the past most smokers were thoughtless & a few still are. I have known quite a few over my life, they didn't 'think' any thing was wrong with smoking any & everywhere so that makes them 'thoughtless'. Non smokers in the past never dreamed the time would come when they could ask a smoker to stop smoking if it bothered them. I know I didn't.

Sounds to me that nicotine addiction has damaged your eyesight as well as your sense of smell and critical thought functions.
To: Gabz
You are making broad generalization statements here - just like the typical anti-smoker - Read your words over again until you find the irony. LOL!
To: Max McGarrity
Every smoker has at least one friend or family member who doesn't give a rat's patoot if he or she smokes, do you deny that? Right there is 50% or more of the population, and I'd bet real money the figure is much higher of people who just don't mind the smoke. Hey Max. I hate to break it to you, but apparently logic just isn't your bag. (Sounds like those tar-covered lungs of yours just aren't processing the ol' oxygen like they used to!)
To: Gabz
So I would assume you would have no problem with allowing the business owners to decide who can smoke in an establishment. How about movie theaters that cater to smokers - therefore if you've got a problem with the smoke in the line - you go to another theater that doesn't permit it???? I have ZERO problem with businesses deciding whether or not to allow smoking. I'm all about civility, not regulations. Smoking and smokers are rude, uncouth, and uncivil.
So don't ask me to cry you a river as more and more eating establishments and other businesses realize this and kick you people the hell out. I applaud them for it.
To: jamz
Just whip out my handy dandy fart spray...and give them a taste of their own medicine
If you did this in the smoking section I would whip your ass. It would be a few painful weeks later before you could break wind again.

You panseys who bitch in the smoking section are right up there with Clinton in my book.

I have a very serious perfume allergy. I break out in hives and my throat closes off.
I smoke Black and mild cigars in sheer defense.
Trust me, you do not want to get in this face about smoking while you stink of real carcinagens. You will have bitten off more than you can chew.
Feel free to try me some time...if you're feeling lucky.
