people say what they will about the Salvation Army - but spend some time and investigate thier religious roots in the "holiness movement" of the mid 1800's and youll discover they are truly dedicated charistmatic beleivers. I'd appreciate a prayer from them any day - Mr Harvey is right to credit God

Ironically, Harvey's voice problems came in the same general time period that another American radio giant, Rush Limbaugh, began to lose his hearing. Limbaugh has since announced on his daily show that he's gone deaf, and still continues to host his program.

For you Paul Harvey people ... back in the WWII Mr. Harvey, although eligeable, was successful in staying out of the war. It sparked controversy at the time and it wasn't 'til the mid-fifties that he began his comeback in radio. Ironic that he's popular with Armed Forces radio, doubly so that he feels qualified to comment at all on our military action in Afghanistan.

Yeah, right. I wish it were true. Sadly, the mangled remnant of a plastic flag that I saw over the weekend, which used to fly 'proudly' from its 'patriotic' owner's SUV antenna, sums it up. Patriotism is still just a passing fad for many, if not most.

I adore Paul Harvey. Used to love listening to him boom out of KSAL as I ran errands, sat in the kitchen or was fishing at Ed's Pond with my grandparents in Salina.

I don't know what Paul remembers about Dien Bien Phu, but the Viet Minh defeat of the French there sure wasn't a test of America (though once again a loss by France preceded America's involvement in a war).

After the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which killed six and injured 1,000, President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.

After the 1995 bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed five U.S.military personnel, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.

After the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed 19 and injured 200 U.S. military personnel, Clinton promised that those would be hunted down and punished.

After the 1998 bombing of U.S. embassies in Africa, which killed 224 and injured 5,000, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.

After the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole, which killed 17 and injured 39 U.S. sailors, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted dow and punished.

But Bill Clinton spant more time and money hunting down and convicting....Bill Gates.
