I just heard from April Winchell that she will play "The Ballad of Mike Moran" on her show on KFI AM 640 in Los Angeles. The show is on Saturday nights from 7-10pm.
Perhaps many of you recognize her as the sarcastic complaining woman in the brilliant and funny series of radio commercials for Glendale Fed.

From
www.DrDemento.com:
"The Doctor is IN!"
The Dr. Demento Show is radio's weekly two-hour festival of "mad music and crazy comedy" heard on stations coast to coast. It is a free-wheeling, unpredictable mix of music and comedy. Along with legends like Spike Jones, Tom Lehrer, Stan Freberg, Monty Python, and Frank Zappa, the Doctor plays new funny songs sent in by amateur and professional singers and comedians. That's how the world was introduced to "Weird Al" Yankovic, who went on to become rock music's best-known funny person. A home-made tape that Al made at age 16 and sent to the Doctor provided him with his very first media exposure.

Actually, she has Hollywood blood in her. Her dad was the late ventriloquist Paul Winchell.

To: Vetnet
I talked on the phone today with someone at Irish radio network in New York. When Eanan Patterson returns from his vacation, they will play the song next Saturday on their show. The guy said that everyone there loved it.
To: doug from upland
His show comes on early Saturday mornings here in Austin (too early for me) so I really don't know where to send in recordings, but I did find an
e-mail for him.
Tell you the truth since you're such a master at song parody, I would have thought for sure you had a direct "in" to Dr. Demento, yourself. He is nationally syndicated and very good publicity. If you've heard of "Weird Al" Yankovic, he's why.
To: doug from upland
Now that's great news! New York will love this song!

You might not believe this, but the best e-mail for her is april@pissed-off.com
Yes, that's really it.

Thanks for the tip!

Okay, tune in to KFI. 640 AM in Los Angeles is a 50,000 watt clear channel powerhouse. It can be heard a great distance at night.

It's a new system, but you can apparently now listen on the Internet --------

Okay, she just announced it is coming up in the 8 o'clock hour. She called it the "Kiss my royal Irish ass song."

That was pretty darn good coverage! And Dave really jumped in there and pitched it too! Maybe the other hosts finally heard it, too!
