From long talks to long walks, from cutting nuclear arsenals to chopping cedar, from limousines to "Gators", the U.S.-Russia summit goes casual and gets personal as it moves to President Bush's ranch.

President Bush made a statement late this evening regarding the rescue of the eight humanitarian workers in Afghanistan. Bush said that the rescue was coordinated with the Afghanis and local Red Cross officials. The eight workers are now safe in Pakistan. Wnjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

Love the pictures of the President driving his big, ole honkin' crew cab truck! He told Putin (I think that's who it was) that he still knew how to drive. He has such a dry sense of humor and knows just when to use it.

Praise God, and thanks to all those involved, for the release of the hostages.

On the other thread about our truck drivin' President , it said that Laura and Mrs. Putin were riding in the back seat.

X42 had a customized 1970 Dodge Van that had mood lights all around the interior a bean bag pod bed and custom lettering on each side of Van that said "PASSION PIT" it was painted purple with a personalized license plate that read "CRUZIN" :-)

RWP ~~~ these pictures are totally mind-boggling to someone who grew up in the height of the Cold War .... who was in high school during the Cuban Missile Crisis ..... who remembers Kruschev promising to bury us. To have the President of Russia and the President of the United States meeting like this, in such a setting, obviously enjoying themselves and showing such respect and liking for each other ..... WOW!!!

Yes, but that's a 4-door truck, so it's just like the back seat of a car....they're NOT riding in the bed of the truck...LOL!

The look on W's face in that closeup is priceless. What a concerned look. AND it settles the debate about blue eyes!!! These two look totally comfortable together. Never in my life--and I am only 26--did I ever think Russia would ever be a friend. I am so happy to hear it. I am not a peacenik, but let's face it- a nation needs as many friends as it can get. That photo from yesterday is the best one yet I have seen of Putin- it's clear and closeup and he looks pretty good, although he still makes me nervous.

I am so completely jealous of all those at the ranch tonight I can barely stand it!!! AARRGGGHHHH I'd even eat catfish tonight to be there, and I hate fish!

Is there ANY first lady anywhere on this globe who compares with OUR Laura? And I'll bet Putin loves being on an American ranch, and roughing it for a change. I hope Dubya doesn't tire him out too much. (Heh, heh, heh) And do any of you wonder how Laura handles entertaining Mrs. Putin when their husbands are out playing? Does Mrs. Putin speak English? Can you imagine entertaining someone when you have to speak through an interpreter?

Oh well, I know Laura will handle it with graciousness.

Breaking news: I just heard that they bombed a caravan and they don't know if bin laden was in that group or not. They also bombed a headquarters where a bunch of Al Quaeda big wigs were. Now they are talking like binnie may be eliminated.

Many thanks for the splendid pics! Love that truck. Who would have thought a genuine friendship between the Russian leader and ours in so short a time. A great debt is owed to the greatest leader of them all...Ronald Reagan. The tragic anomaly of the Soviet experiment is now just a memory, a nightmare the Russian people have woken up from...forever.

Oh, and I forgot to say in my last post---I don't really trust Putin, but that is where the beauty (pun intended) of W shows up--I can totally not have to worry about it. I know that W is not sitting back on the Texas prarie selling out our country for campaign contributions. THANK YOU W! I can sleep at night and not have to worry with him as president. (And Rummy and Cheney....)

W looks completely beyond gorgeous AND ADORABLE in his jeans (swoon) and that jacket that's a little too long in the sleeves. WHAT A HOTTIE!!!!!!!

I think they are feathers, but it really looks like she's got a buncha' dead mice stuck on there...just a bit weird !! Maybe Laura will take her aside and give her some fashion tips, eh ??
