NEW Gallup: Bush's Soaring Approval More Sustained Than Any In Presidential History
GALLUP ^

Posted on 11/16/2001 1:11:37 PM PST by hawaiian

"President Bush's job approval rating shows no sign of decline. The latest Gallup poll, conducted Nov. 8-11, measures the president’s approval rating at 87%. Bush’s job approval has remained at 86% or higher in seven polls conducted over two months. In the history of Gallup polling, no prior presidents have been able to sustain their high approval levels, with no apparent decline, this long." Full Story

I'm shocked that you would want an O.J. trial for those would commit terrorist attacks on this nation. I agree, a military trial would be window dressing. The offenders should have as much info extracted from them as possible, and then be summarily shot. However, since everything is image these days, it's unfortunately necessary.

Speaking of Wars on Nouns, I've noticed you've been uncharacteristically silent on The War on Drugs' latest victim - the State of Washington, concerning its legalization of doctor-assisted suicide.

It all depends on whose pet interest ox is being (i)g(n)ored, I suppose.

Bush 89%, Media 43%.

This is too sweet... :)

The President may not be able to "tame the media" but with numbers like this, he doesn't have to...

Postmodern Western Civilization reminds me of an East Village junkie on the nod: peels itself up off the ground only to engage in just enough activity to maintain its existence.

This will be an long war. Doubtful it will be unending, which is where you and I part company. Elites cannot sustain overlong engagements of anything, especially elites who themselves are in the throes of a slow-motion revolution. The prophet of the 21st century turned out to be Vilfredo Pareto, not Toffler.

Also, there may be no enemies to create, much less fight once this comes to a stopping point.

My favorite line that comes to mind from all this is from the Belgian Troskyist Ernest Mandel, who in 1989 quipped "What do you get after Late Capitalism? More Captialism!" The West may sleep, but Leninism, like its father, is very definately in a tomb.

if you get the goods on some 'end in sight' you let me know.

A clue to the truly clueless: the end will come WHEN WE WIN. When we blow the MFers up. When they are DEAD.

The reason we are no longer shouting "incoming!" at the sight of Japanese kamikaze is because we won. We blew the MFers up. They are dead. But that concept is too simple for you, fleeing simplicity as if it were a plague (see your utterly unreadable -- and, thankfully, unread by any soul with sense -- #71)

You keep saying that words are important. Yours, being entirely masturbatory, aren't.

Okay, well, think what you will of my words ...

BUT ... can you point out in ANY of the articles I linked where it is that our military or current administration think for a moment that Taliban are the only "MF's" that need liquidating?

In fact, it would appear from the clear, unequivocal and absolutely unsexy snippets I posted that this is just the FIRST engagement on the drawing board where our War on Terrorism is concerned.

I don't expect you or anyone to care overmuch -- one way OR the other -- about my personal opinions. I just want you to blow some holes in the quotes I post, that's all. Rebut "THEM". =)

You know ... for all the talk about taking Lenin out of Beautiful Square, he's not only still there they still close off the ENTIRE perimeter during viewing hours.

In the vein of your "creating enemies" tangent ... one thing I found interesting was the way that, in addition to restoring the Holy Gates which weren't wide enough for Stalin's tanks and rebuilding the blue church, Christ is in a "face-off" of sorts with Lenin ... his image like an icon above the Holy Gate of GUM.

We'll see who's sleeping. (I'll flag you on a post that's in the hopper yet which you might find interesting.) Regards.

I don't see a thread on that ... all I see is the wrangling over Ashcroft's reversal on the Oregon statute.

Were tribunals called into existence and subsequently rescinded by Executive Order during WWII as well? Wouldn't mind drawing as many reassuring parallels as possible, to tell you the truth.

Why do you think you have proved something? Of course the military hasn't said that the Taliban are the only ones to be destroyed, BECAUSE THEY AREN'T!

I don't understand how you have missed this, but almost everyone is aware that there are many, many cells, many terrorist organizations, and a few terrorist-sponsoring countries. According to the Bush Doctrine, they are all fair game.

This is not a secret. President Bush stated as much in his speech before Congress. Cheney said the same thing today. WE ARE GOING AFTER THEM ALL.

That is why there is a LIST at the State Department. That is why other countries are gettting nervous. That is why we have far more troops and hardware in the south Asian area than are really needed.

We are going after them all, it is going to take quite a while, and we must stick with it if we want an improved and peaceful world for our descendents.

I SHOULD FRIGGIN HOPE NOT.

Geez, you really are clueless.

In fact, it would appear from the clear, unequivocal and absolutely unsexy snippets I posted that this is just the FIRST engagement on the drawing board where our War on Terrorism is concerned.

NO KIDDING, SHERLOCK.

And it BETTER be just the first.

Don't.

Rebut them???? I AGREE with them.

In case you have not noticed, American citizens are specifically exempt from being able to be tried in this tribunal. It is not a Bush conspiracy to take away your rights.

Liar. You LOVE wallowing in your alarmism and blase doomsaying. You would be "reassured" if God Himself came down and died for your sins.
