NEW Gallup: Bush's Soaring Approval More Sustained Than Any In Presidential History
GALLUP ^

Posted on 11/16/2001 1:11:37 PM PST by hawaiian

"President Bush's job approval rating shows no sign of decline. The latest Gallup poll, conducted Nov. 8-11, measures the president’s approval rating at 87%. Bush’s job approval has remained at 86% or higher in seven polls conducted over two months. In the history of Gallup polling, no prior presidents have been able to sustain their high approval levels, with no apparent decline, this long." Full Story

I think what was always high, was Clinton's job approval rating. It never seemed to change because the economy was good. But his personal rating was always very low.

I don't think a lot of people understand what Clinton's "high" approval ratings were. His highest EVER approval rating (and he wasn't able to sustain it) WAS 20 POINTS LOWER than Bush's. Clinton's high is in another world from Bush's.

I guess Americans are happy to see a real man in the White House for a change. The phonies of the last administration was enough for all of us.

Clinton's high poll numbers were a result of media spin and pity and not based on anything positive he did in office while Bush's high numbers reflect the job he is doing during one of our nations biggest crisis.

Of course, the morons at DU (Delusional Unamericans) claim that the "corporate" media is rigging the polls for Bush. What a joke - Bush's numbers are in the stratosphere despite the daily and nightly snide comments from Peter, Dan, Tom, Katie, Wolf and the rest of the Klinton Kool-Aid drinkers/apologists.

There you go with logic and a balanced historical perspective again. Look, Ask been really been working up to this tantrum, so don't try to take it away from him!

Bet this will be the opening segment to The Today Show tomorrow -- NOT! Oh well, Brit Hume will probably cover it on Special Report (he always covers what is mentioned on Free Republic and Drudge). Such great news!

Probably the primary reason he can get away with confecting by EO fiat military tribunals to deal with suspected terrorists.

Bullsh*t.

Military tribunals were used during WWII to try NAZI collaborators. President Lincoln's assassin was tried by the military. Hell, even the Supreme Court has upheld military trials.

You seem to be falling prey to the red-diaper party line.

One major component of W's continuing opinion poll success is the lack of leaks from the administration, other than the few leaks that were more in the nature of "placements". The media have not had their accustomed meat and have lost vigor. Even Reagan was plagued with leaks and BC and GHWB certainly were. Is Bush the first to get this problem under control?

No prior President has had such a slime-bag of a predecessor to measure against.

I'd like to nominate this as quote of the day. Not to diminish the well-earned approval rating of GWB, but in all fairness to the sheeple, the media also reported (in fine print) that despite the 2/3rds approval of DIRTXPOTUS's job performance, 2/3rds also did not approve of his character.

This means 1/3rd of the sheeple bought the old line that character doesn't matter so long as the job gets done. 9-11 has made that kind of thinking a lot less fashionable.

I'd like to see how they phrased the questions. If it was a fair poll it would be closer to 98% I bet.

"""""The only organization that gets a negative rating by the public is the news media. A majority, 54%, disapprove of the way the media are handling the war on terrorism, while 43% approve. "

This is SO EXCELLENT! Savor it folks. Bush 89%, liberal press 54%.

the polls for Clinton were high all of the time for some reason, although not as high as President Bush! Didn't he leave office with the highest approval rating of any President or some such unbelievable thing?

Thanks to the Reagan tax cut, the rapist got to ride more than Monica. He rode the Reagan golden economy into recession in the business sector by 1998.
He blew the whole thing.
Some people, hopefully not many now, thought it had something to do with the X42, but I believe the myth is quickly fading.
Bush is now the KING! of POLLS!

PRICELESS! I didn't notice this! I hope the media see this for what it is: A DIRECT CONDEMNATION OF THEIR ANTI-AMERICAN CRAP!

Bush won over alot of people who don't pay any attention to politics when he walked out to the pitcher's mound during the World Series and threw a strike. People admire the way he performs under pressure.
