Gov. Pataki is reporting that the pilot of the ill-fated American Airlines flight dumped most of the airplane's fuel over Jamaica Bay, anticipating a crash landing and most likely indicating a trained response to onboard mechanical failures.

This would also explain why fuel (early black) fire was so minimal in the crash zone.

No, the pilot was in a conspiracy to cover up a missile hit. :-)

Was this before or after the wing fell off?
To: Steven W.
I heard him say that on fox.
To: Steven W.
I just heard that. Just terrible to hear this. Those poor people.
And...I accidentally flipped channels to CNN and can you believe Hillary has her ugly mug on the tube again! She will not go away! I'm so sick and tired and weary of her mug.

How fast can these aircraft dump their fuel? Wasn't the flight only a few minutes old at the time of the crash?

I wonder if there was mechanical failure on purpose. Didn't they already find some Airline workers who were illegally employed?

Believed long before the major problems arose with the engine as pilots are not trained to take the actions required to dump fuel when major problems are imminent because they require additional levels of navigation & maneuvering.

He had just taken off, hardly enough time. Pitaki doesn't know.
To: Steven W.
Yeah, I heard some guy on Fox say that the pilot would know there were mechanical problems, but he wouldn't necessarily know what caused those problems. This does not tell us it wasn't sabotage or terrorist related.....just that there probably weren't any terrorists in the cockpit.

When was Gov. Pataki appointed to the NTSB? What is his source for this?

Has she found out a way to blame it on the Bush tax cut yet?
To: Steven W.
Did anybody post the obligatory "Nothing to see hear folks, time to move on and go shopping" post yet?
I always love reading that witty response 50 times an hour.

Yes, and he's conspiring to keep the airline industry and the economy afloat as well. Dastardly pilots, don't they know when we're supposed to run whimpering into our Y2K shelters for fear of terrorists and our government?

What is his source for this? The fuel left floating on the surface of the bay
To: Hillary 666
That cracked me up. (Thanks I needed that - I was fuming after seeing her ugly mug...I should know better than to flip to CNN.) ;^D
To: steveo
In that same briefing with Patkati and the mayor, there was a mention that the reason other flights were prevented from taking off was that they had to inspect the fuel (which would take several hours).
Contaminated fuel? Ever heard of such a thing?
To: Steven W.
Well, it's a good thing nobody was smoking on a boat at the time in Jamaica Bay.
