Hard Times for Gun Control Group?

(CNSNews.com) - The post-Sept. 11 climate has been good for gun sales and bad for gun control groups. In a letter to supporters, Sarah Brady of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence says, "Regretfully...we have been forced to make significant cutbacks in our programs, threatening our ability to fight for a safer America." She said a "forced downsizing and restructuring" has forced the group lay off about 20 percent of its staff. The letter goes on to solicit funds, and it says a generous donor has agreed to partially match contributions received in the next 30 days. As a further inducement to would-be donors, the Brady Campaign says, "There is compelling evidence that terrorists are stockpiling high-powered weapons and ammunition obtained from unregulated gun markets in this country, such as gun shows."
