"Veteran's Day--What will YOU be doing???"

In just a few days VETERAN'S DAY will be here.
In this current wave of Patriotism.....a question comes up.
What will YOU do this VETERAN'S DAY to show those who have put their lives, and are currently putting their lives, "on the line" that you appreciate what they have done...and what they are doing??
Will you finally find that Viet Vet and tell him/her "WELCOME HOME!!"??
Will you take your children to a Veteran's Hospital...and listen to an aging WWII Vet tell you of his days???
Will you tell your Father...Uncle...Brother...that you are glad they made it home from the frozen Korean landscape???
It's only a few days to "VETERAN'S DAY"..........
Make it count.

I plan on going to the local cemetary and taking some time
to say Thank You to the Brothers and Sisters who are there.
In Honor of those who gave their lives and those who were gravely disabled.Thank You Brothers and Sisters for your sacrifices.
And Thank You to all who have always and will always support our troops.

We usually spend it with my Dad (a post-WWII tank commmander in Germany). We also give a call to my Uncle Ed in Virginia (spent time during WWII at a post in Alaska, later transferred to infantry, was in the Battle of the Bulge). I live near the VA hospital in Lyons, NJ. Maybe I should take the kids there this year to help the Vets to Mass, 11/11 falling on a Sunday this year.

Will you take your children to a Veteran's Hospital...and listen to an aging WWII Vet tell you of his days???I did exactly this last Memorial Day. I can't recommend it enough. I went to brighten the Vets' day -- they ended up brightening mine.

I'll be calling my Dad, who spent WWII in the Navy in the Pacific- all the way to Okinawa.
Then, my wife and I will attend a ceremony at the National Cemetery- after which we will most likely stop by the VFW and buy some Vets a beer!
Sound like a plan? LET'S ROLL!!!

Seeing the picture of "The Wall" always brings tears to my eyes and always will.
I'll never forget when you and I met at Klamath in August
and the bear hug you gave me when we said Welcome Home Brother
It is an honor to have met you Brother.

The next town over (elk grove, CA) is having their first Veteran's Day parade since cityhood.
We are planning on shining the brass on our old greens and attending!
probably down a few brewski's after the parade.
