BUSH JUSTICE DEPARTMENT BLOCKS RENO DEPOSITION

Latest Obstruction Prevents Scheduled Testimony In Defamation Case Against Accused Spy Wen Ho Lee

Last Minute Gamesmanship No Better than Clinton Justice Department

(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the public interest law firm that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today criticized the Ashcroft Justice Department for obstructing a long scheduled deposition of former Attorney General Reno in whistleblower Notra Trulock defamation case against accused Chinese spy and admitted felon Wen Ho Lee. Trulock, the former chief of the Energy Department intelligence operations, is suing Lee and others for falsely accusing Trulock of racial bias while conducting an inquiry into the loss of America nuclear secrets from Energy Department labs. Former Attorney General Reno, who was subpoenaed last month, was expected to testify that Wen Ho Lee charges of racial bias had no basis in fact and that there was a legitimate basis to investigate Lee. The deposition of Ms. Reno was scheduled to take place tomorrow in Miami. Judicial Watch is representing Mr. Trulock in this matter.

Late yesterday afternoon, the Ashcroft Justice Department, through a fax from Assistant Attorney General Robert D. McCallum, Jr., unilaterally decided that Reno (and other witnesses such as former FBI Director Louis Freeh) would not appear as scheduled. Judicial Watch was told by a Justice Department lawyer that this decision was only made yesterday. (The Ashcroft Justice Department had known that Reno would be testifying in this case since June of this year.)

The Justice Department lawyers know they have no legal basis to prevent Ms. Reno from testifying at the last minute. Yet they think they are above the law and are contemptuous of the Court processes. The Ashcroft Justice Department has continually obstructed this case. Indeed, a federal court has already sanctioned them for similar conduct in this case. "Truth be told, in matters that Judicial Watch has been litigating, the ethics and practices of the Ashcroft Justice Department are no better than those of Reno Justice Department", stated Judicial Watch Chairman Larry Klayman.

"No one is above the law. And Judicial Watch will seek appropriate sanctions and plans to ask for an independent investigation by the Office of Professional Responsibility into the way the Wen Ho Lee case has been handled. These repeated obstructionist tactics by this Justice Department are most likely to cover up their ongoing negligence concerning the loss of virtually all of our nation nuclear secrets to China and other nations adverse to the United States", added Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

Larry Klayman is not a cheat, obviously the money donated would go to investigating

Gee, you really should do some investigating of your own. The other 28 million went to RENT (to himself) AND DIRECT MAIL FUND RAISING. And from what I've heard, he's not paying all that much.

The 2 million was ALL he spent on this cases, investigating and all.

Since you're so familiar with Klayman's enterprise, how many lawsuits has he filed against former employees?

PRESIDENT Bush does not RUN the Justice Department. AG Ashcroft does. I guess PRESIDENT Bush could fire AG Ashcroft. Do you think it would be wise at a time like this? Judicial Watch seems to sue everyone for just about anything. Maybe, just maybe, there is something going on at the present time that precludes these depositions? I don't know but if I were to give the benefit of the doubt at THIS time it would have to go to AG Ashcroft. Time will tell.

We all know that. But just as Clinton had a large influence over the Reno Justice Department, it wouldn't hurt if Bush would suggest to JA to take a second look into the Chinagate matter.

URGENT ALERT
FROM
JUDICIAL WATCH

URGENT CALL TO ACTION!

Dear Friend and/or Supporter

I hope you saw our call to action last week asking you to contact Roger Ailes concerning Fox News' failure to sufficiently cover Judicial Watch's activities.

In this regard, one of our most recent cases concerning Hollywood producer Peter Paul -- who made two million dollars in unreported campaign contributions to Hillary Clinton's Senate campaign as part of a $17 million offer to Bill Clinton if the former president would sit on Paul's board of directors (Paul also asked for a pardon) -- is perhaps the latest and best chance to hold the Clinton's accountable under the rule of law for their continuing crimes against the American people. It is incredible that Fox News has not reported this story when ABC's 20/20 did air it. However, more important than Fox News' neglect of this story, is the fact that the Bush Justice Department, through Attorney General John Ashcroft, needs to be prodded to become Judicial Watch's partner in bringing the Clintons to justice. While a fine and decent man, Attorney General John Ashcroft has been thus far been handcuffed by the Bush White House into taking swift and strong action. The Bush White House obviously fears that bringing the Clintons to justice would induce Democrat investigations into their own actions, perhaps by the Democrat-controlled Senate. This obviously is not the way to run a justice system, since the failure to hold the Clintons accountable will give the green light for other corrupt government officials to trash the U.S. legal system, the rule of law, and our American ideals. Indeed this is what has lead directly to individuals like Gary Condit believing he can get away with his actions. Others are sure to follow.

For this reason I ask not only that you now contact Attorney General John Ashcroft to also demand that justice be done. The contact information for Attorney General John Ashcroft is set forth below.

U.S. Mail:
ATTN: Attorney General
U.S. Department of Justice
950 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.
Washington, DC 20530-0001

Email: AskDOJ@usdoj.gov

Phone: (202)-514-2001
Fax: (202)-514-4371

In addition, it would be helpful if you could contact major conservative talk show hosts and use this as a mantle to force action out of Ashcroft. Your call-in commentary can and will influence the Bush Administration to act as Judicial Watch's partner for justice. The contact information for several radio show hosts is listed at the bottom of this message.

In summary, Judicial Watch's hard evidence of Clinton crimes concerning Peter Paul should, if we all do our jobs, land them both in prison -- where they belong. Coupled with Judicial Watch's civil lawsuit and FEC complaint on behalf of Mr. Paul, we believe that the Clintons are destined to pay a significant price for what they have done.

God Bless and thank you for your help and support.

By involving you in Judicial Watch projects, we can show the political elite that citizen action works, while restoring the greatness of our country. As John Adams wrote 21 days before signing the Declaration of Independence, "Statesmen, my dear Sir, may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon which Freedom can securely stand.

The only foundation of a free Constitution is pure Virtue, and if this cannot be inspired into our People in a greater Measure, than they have it now, they may change their Rulers and the forms of Government, but they will not obtain a lasting liberty."

Sincerely,

Larry Klayman
Chairman and General Counsel
Judicial Watch, Inc.

P.S. Please send to Judicial Watch hard copies of what is sent to Ashcroft and others.

But just as Clinton had a large influence over the Reno Justice Department

Bush doesn't need to micromanage anything. He has nothing to hide. He hires grownups with real experience to do their jobs.

"What IS (by ANY definition) the Bush administration and GOP afraid of?"

I would guess that clinton/s has threatened to expose Bush Sr. and send him to the slammer.

You know, if I believed for one second that Clinton(s) or Reno would ever be held accountable for their acts of treason and murder I'd be the first one standing on the chair screaming to go after them. Reality sucks. They have murdered and cheated and lied and sold our nation down the river for eight years and I haven't a single doubt in the world that ANYBODY that could have proven it has either long since been bought off or is six feet under via Arkancide.

GWB & Co. are not doing anything here that they haven't done since the day this administration took over. Starting with the vandalism in the White House. Bush went out of his way to keep it quiet including instructing the staff not to talk about it. He has signed an executive order sealing Presidential files including Clinton's. He has offered every single courtesy to the previous chief criminal including a private military jet to bring him home on 9-11. He has invited him to sit in the front row with his family at the memorial service in NYC.

Everything he has done since the day he took office has stated unequivocably that he is not going to rehash the previous eight years. Why? Perhaps because he sincerely does want to move forward. More likely he knows it's like kicking a dead horse. Any investigation of Clinton et al is going absolutely nowhere. Millions of dollars will be spent on legal fees and long dragged out court battles that will end with absolutely zero convictions being handed out .

For crying out loud, we can't even get the press to report, much less the airport security to investigate Hillary running the security gate at the airport. You honestly think any of these crimes wouldn't be dismissed for lack of evidence. Yes, I know there's evidence and so do you, but that doesn't mean Clinton won't skate. He always has, he always will.

For the first time since the Regan administration this country is united. As much as I would love to see Clinton/Clinton & Reno behind bars perhaps it really is time to move forward.

On the other hand, if Hitlery decides to run for President in 2004 or 2008, all bets are off. I'll personally send a check to Larry to keep her name in the news on a daily basis regardless of how frivilous the lawsuits may be.

Are those cases still in court?

According to Klayman, some of them still are. If you can prove otherwise, then by all means do so.

Now answer my question ... were any of those cases "LAUGHED" out of court? You are DISHONESTLY trying to suggest the cases had no merit. You are also DISHONESTLY trying to suggest that the only reason for filing the cases was the matter at hand. That is not true. These cases were the ONLY means available, in a country where the DOJ and FBI were owned by the democRATS, of putting certain people under oath and asking them certain questions about the activities of democRATS. Klayman expertly used those depositions and document searches to uncover a number of CRIMINAL (not CIVIL) violations by the Clintons, Clinton administration and DNC. Now explain why Bush/Ashcroft haven't done ANYTHING about the many serious CRIMINAL VIOLATIONS that JW gathered facts about? Are they cowering before the dreaded DC Juries and the mainstream media reaction?

You are such a predictable parrot.

You even argue like a democRAT. Again. Why do you go out of your way to try and discredit EVERYTHING that Judicial Watch did during the Clinton years? Why do you want Bush/Ashcroft to "move on" when there is significant reason to believe the democRATS committed just about every class of crime you can name? How can you imagine that would be good for this country.

Or perhaps you can just tell us your reasons for believing that Ron Brown was not murdered and that people who suggest he was (or that Foster didn't suicide) give the GOP a "bad name"?

Why should I support a suit to help a spy? Lee needs to be executed. Sorry, but Bush did the right thing here.

.......employee salaries, office costs, fund-raising benefits, paying interns, rent, etc. .....

beckie.... In 1999, out of his expenses how much did ol' larr spend on salaries, rent, etc.? Hint, he spend more on fund-raising. He took in some $17,651,327 and spent some $5,582,502 on fund-raising and some $1,231,053 on legal cases.

According to Klayman, some of them still are.

Sort of like the case back this summer that Klayman kept saying was still in court and others were saying that it had been dismissed.........and the others were right?
