Northcut was in the USN stationed in South Viet Nam. He was a 'river rat' and was injured over in Cambodia. There was 13 men in the boat when the boat exploded from enemy fire. Apparently some men were killed and a few were injured. He was sent to a hospital in Australia to recover.
He has been in Solana Beach for about 10 years. He had another dog for seven years who died of old age. Then he got this German Shepard. This dog worked with the Border Patrol down in San Diego. The San Diego Animal Control did a scan and found the chip in its neck. My guess is that the dog has barked and lurched at Mexicans, which he was trained to do! They have found a police dog trainer who has offered to work with the dog to retrain it.
The Mayor in San Diego forwarded all the emails he got up to the Mayor at Solana Beach. Literally "hundreds of emails" is the term Sam used. The City manager of Solana Beach is "looking into what they can do" to get Northcut his dog back and they are probably going to start treating him with the respect he deserves. With this much publicity we have got them damn scared and on their toes. I expect that very soon things will be much better for Northcut and his dog.
I guess they were shocked that this has become an "international issue". Well, it is because of you folks that this has happened. Sam got a call from someone who said it was in the National Review (?) newspaper. The man hung up without giving his name. I am so proud that you all have taken the time to step forward. It is things like this that will make all cities start looking at war veterans with a different scope. They will be afraid that if they mistreat a veteran the same "international issue" could be brought into their city showing how cold hearted they are.
Sam is going out of the country for two weeks on Wednesday. His assistant, Gail will be answering his phone. Jennifer is also available to receive phone calls. Stephen Jaffe was the one who asked Jennifer to defend Northcut in court to get him out of jail. She did it Pro Bono. What a great lady!
Wouldn't we love to know who blew the whistle, when it appears most of the town loved 'em?
Thanks so much for the update!
I am so sick and tired of the riff-raff being placed above the high quality men of this country I could scream. The entire city of San Diego should be fired and their pathetic liberal hides thrown out on the street.

This is what I sent:
Be advised your anti-American actions regarding Robert Thomas Northcut a decorated Vietnam Veteran
are going to cost your city a boycott of services in your city like the City of Berkeley
is feeling right now. (my real name) Viet Nam Vet
I spoke to Lucy at 10:30 am and I asked her how many calls she had gotten so far and she said I was the first. She said she was not sure of the details but they had been trying forever to get him out of the memorial because he was destroying the landscaping and that it was distruction of property. They have pictures of it too she said.
She went on to say there are 2 sides to the story etc. She said one of their main concerns was that the dog is neglected. I aksed if there where complaints prior to 9/11 about the dog and she said yes. I found out tonight the dog did bite someone last year. But no complaints have been filed since then and only after 9/11 by city workers and from what I can figure out it is the ones who put up the trespass sign and the ones on the scene the day they arrested Mr. Northcut.
She then said some homeless people had complained that the dog was barking at them in another landscape area and they were concerned the dog is a danger.
She interupted me and asked how I found out about this and I told her Yahoo.com ( didnt want to give us away yet lol) told her I didnt have the url handy at the moment she could find it easy. She seemed to be getting a little worked up now and She then went on to say it was all still comming clear to her but Mr Northcut had had oustanding warrents and that was why they picked him up. The dog is a danger and looks very under fed. It will cost the city thousands to repair the landscape. She didnt know anything about where the dog was, had not talked to sheriff or any other questions after that. So I told her I would call her back in a few hours so they could figure out what was going on, before I went to print. :)
I came to FR got the url to the link and called her back...she took my call and I told her I had the url for her and she was in FULL PANIC mode and said they had found it and they were reading it now. I said good Ill talk to you in a few hours
I gave her 3 hours, called and was told They are in a meeting. Kept calling back she was still in a meeting her secretary said then at 4 all I got was voice mail for Lucy and her secretary.
Now since a complaint was filed a task force will investigate to determine if the dog is safe. They may give him back only if he has a fenced area to keep him in. Mr Northcut was offered a place to live but said no, he cant live indoors.
As of tonight Mr. Northcut was last seen at the memorial.
Im sure I left out some stuff...got notes scattered all over so if I remember any more I will post it.
OH and Mr Georges said NOT TO LET UP. KEEP IT GOING!!!!
