But I keep telling myself that if this opens the eyes of just one more person, and they then spread that questioning of the status quo to one more person, and so on, maybe it will do some good.
There is a subtle change in the "national conversation"-- for example, when I was little, the only people who questioned the saintliness of Franklin Roosevelt were my parents... and it was done in whispers, because in this formerly 80% Dem community, FDR was regarded as a God. Yet today, at least on the web, that "saintliness" is badly tarnished, if not downright tatty and shopworn.
My two somewhat Libertarian nieces keep telling me, "Thanks, Uncle John, but I'll get my own news...." and you know what? That's great! They get on the web & do their own research- and I think they will do fine by doing that, even if they reach different conclusions than I do. At least they are thinking for themselves and questioning what's being told them.
