Have you become fed up and tired of hearing about the pace of the war or reading articles such as this Krauthammer: Not Enough Might? With press like this we don't need to hear what the enemy is saying.
I am writing to all patriotic, freedom-loving individuals to ask for your help. We have all been made aware of our current concerns with terrorism and the possibility of a strike at any given time or place. In the midst of the heightened awareness of our safety and freedom being at stake, I am thankful that we have a President that has risen to the challenge of safeguarding America and the world. We live in interesting times, and an opportunity to make a difference. As President Bush stated that, Every American is a soldier, and every citizen is in this fight. And I am proud of our country. Our country is united and strong, and were prepared.
My reason for writing is to ask for your help in countering the medias insistence that we, Americans, are becoming impatient and want this present campaign of routing terrorism to be over. It is true; we would like a quick end. But we also, I believe, desire more to live secure in our homes with the ability to regain the continue assurance of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
The vision that I would like to see would be billboards and placards that state our resolve as Americans on the home front, WE SUPPORT OUR TROOPS. WE HAVE TIME, WE ARE PATIENT, AND WE WILL BE VICTORIOUS. I believe that it would be supportive of our troops to affirm daily that we are still in the fight with them. The flags have brought healing at a time when we were wounded; I believe the billboards and placards would say were standing our ground no matter what we hear. Do we as American citizens have this level of resolve?
If theres a better mousetrap already created share it please. We cannot, I believe, continue to allow the media to define the present conflict of our survival or sway public opinion on the timetable.
You think that would work with our media. Each time they moaned and complained about why it's taking so long-they had to be called on the Carpet by President Bush to hear his "cough 'em up" speech. LOL
We support our troops and the media must realize that they also must be soldiers in this war instead of mere reporters. We should not tolerate them putting our troops in danger with reckless reporting.
Would love to see signs in yards across America...WE SUPPORT OUR TROOPS. WE HAVE TIME, WE ARE PATIENT, AND WE WILL BE VICTORIOUS.
I am getting a kick out of Rumsfeld dealing with those reporters...Why are we dropping cluster bombs on them?....We are trying to kill them, to put it bluntly.
What if one were to print out your saying, attach it to a square of Luan(sp?)and cover with clear contact paper and give them out to people to attach to a stake for their yards...would it hold up in weather?....that is all my tired brain can do tonight...will check back tomorrow...sweet dreams.
If nothing else they will have to report the number of signs they've been seeing.
So, I'm thinking of a video about a minute or so in length:
-------
Video: Open to an eagle flying high up in the sky.
Voiceover: "America is hunting down the terrorists who murdered thousands of innocent people as they went about their work in New York and Washington DC on September 11th, 2001. These same terrorists have made repeated attempts to destroy American lives, including a previous attempt to blow up the Trade Center in New York back in 1993, and the bombings of the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania where more American lives were lost."
Video: Pan to the ground where varios animals, deer, bear, coyote, cougar, etc. are pictured as if being eyed by the eagle.
Voiceover: "America is not after just anyone, we are patiently hunting down a specific group -- a large group -- of international criminals who sneak around and have commited their lives to terrorizing the innocent. We want to find them without causing harm to others. A good hunter watches patiently..."
Video: Eagle swoops down and catches a rat in its claws.
Voiceover: "... and always gets what he goes after. America is striking back at the terrorists at the right opportunities."
Video: Closeup of eagle head as it again eyes the ground.
Voiceover: "We are hunting down the terrorists in their own territory and here in America. It will take some time to identify all the targets. America is patient, America is vigilant, America is strong. Together, we will destroy the terroists who would destroy our home."
Video: Pan back at the last sentence to show the eagle flying over some beautiful American landscape.
-----
Note the multiple use of the word patient. It is intended to be the primary point, illuminated against the background of the hunting metaphor for our mission. Stock wildlife footage is necessary to produce this on any kind of a reasonable budget. Let me know if anyone is interested. I'll see what I can come up with if we can get a budget together. Needs music too.
Problem is that it already reads long for a 1 minute clip. I get 1:05-1:10, and actually 1:20 if I put in the pauses that I want to for emphasis. I guess it depends on whether it's edited for a 1 minute commercial or a more relaxed longer video clip for delivery in email.
I am going to use my ping list on this thread. Thanks for doing this thread !!!!!
In Conn., many cars have not only flags flying and / or an Aerican flag on a window, bt also a sign thet reads " UNITED WE STAND ". I think that that says it very well ! I still haven't been able to find out where to get such a sign, but am asking around.
Now, if we could get the several factions on FR, who daily post just how " horrible " President Bush is, and all of the stupid conspiracy stuff won over, we might be doing a better service. I know Dems, who are now more patriotic, and behind our president 100 % , who make those supposed Conservatives , here , look like the enemy.
Oh, and don't forget letters to the editor, in your local and national papers ! Keep it up, so that everyone knows that we stand four square behind our military.
