For those who want to see drugs decriminalized, this is the best explanation there is as to why that won't happen. For those Drug Warriors out there who are so vehemently opposed to decriminalization, guess who's side you're reallyon?

The harder the Feds push the drug war, the more it implies a conflict of interests. What I want to know is this: Why are we still running a Drug War on our own people? They are the ones who are making the profits for the "big guys". No wonder they never seem to put them all in jail - no money to be made if they did that.

I want every single Drug Warrior on FR to read this thread. THIS is why I oppose the drug war. We MUST kill this black market, at any cost, or the cartels will quite literally own everything. Yes, drugs are bad (mmmmkay), but allowing these criminals to earn this kind of money is much, much, worse. Think about it - how many billions of dollars earned in the drug trade go into terrorism?

And I won't even get into the moral reasons to legalize. What this article describes is reason enough. Anyone who opposes legalization, at any level, is condoning this.

This is a fact of life. The most money is going to be made in the "dirtiest" jobs. It's a little trick the devil does. Legalizing drugs will not eliminate this.

You must change the axiom that doing "illegal things" can get you ALOT of money if you are not caught.

Do you have any idea the amount of money in the child porn industry? I saw somewhere on a special one time and it was horrendous. And as long as there is a desire, people will provide. Does that mean we should go against our morals and legalize it?

Good article.

However...it's articles like this that tend to make things seem hopeless...as far as this grand experiment called "the united states"...surviving.

SORRY TO RUIN YOUR BUZZ PEOPLE, but the real drug war had only begun now with going after terrorism. There are tons of drug busts everywhere now as everything moving into this country is being searched.

The most recent thing I am reading is serious talk of closing the borders.

The main issue "is to not legalize drugs which would GROW ADDICTS"! It would be better for ADDICTED people to grow up. As people get older they should learn and act more responsible.

I would hate to be an ADDICTED WARRIOR and not know for sure if my drug money went to killing those 6000 in NY and people on the planes. Yet again they would be too selfish to care. That would ruin their BUZZ!
