OK, saw the definition in the article.

Drying and milling. Quick question: how hard is it to dry and mill something down to 1-5 microns? Any FReepers out there know this?

I think tobacco smoke falls in that range, but smoking anthrax may be hazardous to your health

Given the fact that the size of a single spore is approximately 1 micron, this means milling each particle down to the practically the size of a single spore. It is hard to do that without 1) the particle just clumping together again once you stop grinding and (more importantly) 2) contaminating everything in sight, inccluding yourself, while you do it - unless you have very expensive containment equipment.

I talked to a biologist on the "Anthrax" thread a few weeks ago who seemed to know his stuff. He basically said that creating 1-5 micron anthrax spores would require about $100 million (factory & equipment) and several Ph. D.'s.

He noted that the Japanese "Aum shin rikeo (sp?)" cult spend millions of dollars, hired several Ph.D.'s, dispersed their anthrax spores in the Tokyo subway and didn't kill anyone.
