A reminder to all - be vigilant. This bio attack could well be a diversionary tactic.
Also - everyone needs to remain calm. Hysteria will not help the matter. Stick with the facts, and these are that the places hit are very few in number and the number of folks infected are very few in number taken against the Nation's population.

ISB: I heard that that is exactly what they are planning to do.
I also heard that the exposure to anthrax was determined by nasal swabs, which means that if they had gone untreated, the spores WOULD have eventually made their way into the lungs.
We have to remember that we're not just talking about the members here; we're also talking about their staffs, who all have families who are no doubt concerned.
I think we all need to hold our fire here; this is a very fluid situation and we may not have all the facts. Even with the facts that we DO have, I'm not so sure that adjourning isn't a prudent thing to do. 29 people testing positive for anthrax is a HUGE number at one facility. It would have been UNIMAGINABLE a month ago.
Let's take a deep breath & pray for the safety of all involved. I have no doubt that Congress will resume as soon as it is determined that it can do so safely; whether that be today, in a different location, or next Tuesday.

Baltimore, MD, has received a specific threat of an anthrax attack at 1:15 PM ET, according to the city's mayor. No further details.

ML - On your rant, not a flame, but a polite disagreement.
They are not going to meet somewhere else. They have adjourned - gone home till next Tuesday. I would not feel so ashamed of their actions if it were such they went somewhere else to sit. As it is, they have chosen not to do so, but to run until they are told their rear ends are safe.
[BTW - They would have to sit in Washington, somewhere, according to Federal law.]
Let's contrast with NBC. Did they close the whole building? No. Did they shut down? No.
Hard to believe it, but I'm holding an element of the Fourth Estate at a higher level than the National Legislature.
Facts on the ground are actually fairly simple. One certified anthrax release, ZERO people infected, two dozen EXPOSED. EVERYONE hosed down. Floor and wing of Senate Office Building quaranteed pending sweep. Anthrax, even weapons grade, is basically non communicable (except under very rare and discreet circumstances).
Word of this is spreading through Federal office buildings with tens of thousands of Federal workers who are, quite frankly, wondering why these chosen 535 should be, in perceived matters of life and death, viewed as "more important". An overreaction. And shameful. Period.

Well, as I speak, there is a vote going on in the House (C-Span) and the Senate is meeting in a closed session to figure out WHAT to do.
Is this the measure to determine if there is any sanity left in the Legislative Branch?
Seriously, thank you for the update. I am TV-less in the office, obviously, so I am regurgitating what is coming across from ABC News and the local WMAL outlet. They are probably getting reports from staff and running with it.

Type of anthrax found in sample taken from tommy's office: sensitive to all anti-biotics. Strain not identified at this time. Pure spores. No further info on type.
24 people had positive nasal swab.
House may be re-considering decision to close.
