Bio-terrorism: When in doubt, blame the right

"Right Wing" Blamed for Anthrax

When in doubt, blame the right. In this case, for Anthrax. In an October 15 New York Times story, reporter Felicity Barringer approvingly quoted an official at Harvard University who suggested foreign terrorists may not be behind the Anthrax sent to media outlets since the U.S. media "has not been a particular target of Islamic fundamentalist groups or groups we associate with Sept. 11. It has been a target of right-wing groups in America."

The quote, MRC Communications Director Liz Swasey noticed, appeared in a story headlined, "New Tactic of Terrorists Is to Attack Messengers." Barringer relayed:
"Who did it? The timing, and the continuing threats from Osama bin Laden's network, Al Qaeda, make that group an easy suspect. In an appearance on Friday on the PBS program, The News Hour with Jim Lehrer, Vice President Dick Cheney noted that Mr. bin Laden's group trained its followers to use chemical and biological weapons. Implying a link between Mr. bin Laden and the anthrax incidents, he said, ‘Again, we have not completed the investigation and maybe it's a coincidence, but I must say I'm a skeptic.’
"Juliette N. Kayyem, the executive director of the program on domestic preparedness at the Kennedy School [at Harvard University], was more cautious. So far, little is known, she said. ‘We shouldn't go into this with blinders on trying to link this to Sept. 11.’
"The media, she said, ‘has not been a particular target of Islamic fundamentalist groups or groups we associate with Sept. 11. It has been a target of right-wing groups in America.’ The one thing that Islamic radicals and American right-wing radicals have in common, she added, is a paranoid belief that American media outlets are pawns in a worldwide Jewish conspiracy. And one of the letters that has been a focus of the anthrax investigation in Florida came with a Star of David inside.’"

While it is true that a few in the U.S., who are well outside of mainstream politics, have an anti-Jewish hatred and paranoia, the Times article reflected the left’s view of the political spectrum by tying them to the right. Never forget that the Nazis were the National "Socialist" Party.

Didn't we all see this sort of thing coming? It's only a matter of time before the media figures out a way to blame their favorite targets: conservatives.

The people they are calling "the right" are not the right.

That's the bigger problem.

For a fascinating read on how this professor doesn't know what he's talking about, read the following article posted yesterday on FR:

A "Moderate" American Muslim Parent's View (Dems., don't you dare blame the Right!)

Shades of CNN's Bernie Shaw:
"Duh, is there any indication the militias are involved in this?"

Blame the militia , the NRA or right-wing Christians and you appear brilliant.
Hurricanes: The militia. Severe droughts: Duh, the militia's fault.
Bank robery: The NRA. Of course!
Flu season: A minister who is an NRA member and has a militia congregation; naturally.
Anthrax threats: well, why change blaming horses in the middle of the Breaking Disaster News stream?

FLASH! It is 'alleged' that the NYT and CNN are nit-wits!

I notice Ashleigh Banfield and other truly sickening anti-American journalists are also using "the religious right" to refer to the Taliban and their supporters, when, in actuality, the Taliban makes up the (moslem) RELIGIOUS LEFT, with Christianity on the right and Judaism in the middle.

that's wrong - with a few exceptions, Christians (religious right) share a lot in common with Jews, whereas Moslems (religious left) including Osama, Arafat, Hamas, PLO, etc., truly hate the Jews and openly call for their extermination.

Jews don't have any stronger support than from "right-wing" Christians.

Perhaps it would be wise to remind the left of their support for the Kosovo Muslim Freedom Fighters that were trying to liberate (steal) Kosovo from the right wing orthodox serbian christians. The left is the only group on record that has been recently supporting muslim extremism. Remember the photo op of american albanians in New York getting ready to go to Kosovo to fight. Must seem pretty absurd to New Yorkers now. So, to hide their embarassment, the left deflects their culpability onto someone else.

Christians (religious right)

The article and I said conservatives.
And that is where you find the Jew-bashing.

I told my wife last night that it was only a matter of time before they blamed the "Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy" for these scares.

And others here at FR jump all over them. So what have you got against diversity?

"Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy"

Of course they are to blame. Who but evil, mean spirited Republicans could try to attack the lovable leader of the US Senate! Who but evil, mean spirited, right-wing, waco Republicans would try to harm the New York Times, or the tabloids! Who but right-wing waco's would go after Tom Brokaw! It is clear that this must be the work of a vast rigth wing conspiracy! (/sarcasm)

Seriously, you gotta wonder what some of these folks use for brains!

Hey guess what? I am a radical-right-wing-fundamentalist-Christian-fanatic, and it's interesting that God did not tell me in His Bible, through and angel, or directly Himself to send anthrax to anyone.
Do you think God is just not speaking to me anymore or am I just not listening?

I am more inclined to believe that these liberal clymers are getting themselves vaccinated, then having this crap sent to themselves. That way, these liberal and Democratic losers can pump themselves back up and try and stem the radical-right-wing-Conservatiive tidal wave that is deflating them. What do you think?

Radical ideas from the radical mind of RadicalRik.

Well, of course the lefties will start blaming talk radio and the VRWC again. However, if the terrorists think the media is full of Jewish people, that would make them a target wouldn't it? Of course it would.
Gee, wonder why they don't think before they speak? Just an excuse to blame the right again?
