The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.
Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |

Christ died only once, but sacrifice doesn't have to mean death! The Sacrifice of the Mass is an un-bloody one, we do not kill Him again in effigy.
Mt 9:I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Heb 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
Ro 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Now what other sacrifices do you say Christ wants from us?
To: OLD REGGIE
I believe those "Catholics" who can sort through all the "extras" and find the way directly to the Lord are o.k. in spite of the misdirection.
WHEW!!!!!!! Glad to know that, if I work hard enough, there's a chance that OLD REGGIE might deem me (grant me?) capable of salvation in the name of Jesus Christ! To think, I was listening to 2000 years of the Faith, when all I had to do was listen to someone out of a Jack Chick comic.
You may note some Protestants, as well as Catholics, think I am full of it. So be it.
How can anyone think that OLD REGGIE could be full of it? I mean, you're POPE OLD REGGIE I, for goodness sake, granted the power to bind and loose all that is on Earth and in Heaven! I owe my salvation to you your Popefulness!

You deny that you stated you were ignorant? You deny that you believe organized religion and organized worship is wrong? Let's see who belongs to the Father of the Lie, brah.
To: OLD REGGIE
...they never
pray directly to Jesus. A question for you. As a Christian, when you pray to God, do you not consider it a prayer to Jesus?

Let's see who belongs to the Father of the Lie, brah.Yes I deny both as intentional mischaracterizations of my words to disparage me. Far be it from you to stoop to reason and logic from your perch of personal attacks.

Well of course your going to differ I know that! And so is ever other Porddy. What led me to make that remark is that fact that it you guys don't fallow His commands and don't make sacrifice to Him. And, it's no more worse a generalization then the one OLD REGGIE made about Catholics not worshiping God.
Grading:
1. Your = adjective. You're = contraction, you are.
2. ever other Pordy = What?
3. that fact that it you guys = What again?
4. fallow = context?
5. and don't make sacrifice to Him = singular?
6. no more worse = ?? less? equal?? what???
7. then = adjective. than = conjuctive.
Grade:Grammar, spelling, sentence structure: F

the one OLD REGGIE made about Catholics not worshiping God.
The statement REGGIE made:
"I believe there are countless millions of Catholics in this world who have no idea who the Lord is. They pray to Mary, they pray to various Saints, they pray to statues, they never pray directly to Jesus.
------------------------------------------------------------
Grade for accuracy: F
And you wonder why you are misunderstood????
To: Titanites
Oh, I get it now. This is a metaphor, right?
You get credit for catching it.
If you had to reduce the rolls of "Catholics" to those who understand their Church, Teachings, and Jesus Christ, you would no longer be the largest Christian Church.

If you had to reduce the rolls of "Catholics" to those who understand their Church, Teachings, and Jesus Christ, you would no longer be the largest Christian Church. And if you did it for yours, you'd still be the smallest.

Re. #3280: I didn't copy it because it is too strange.
When was the last time you were told you are an ignorant idiot?
To: Titanites
As a Christian, when you pray to God, do you not consider it a prayer to Jesus?Where, pray tell, does the bible ever instruct one to pray to Jesus?

A question for you. As a Christian, when you pray to God, do you not consider it a prayer to Jesus?
Yes, I do. Your question made me ask myself just how I pray. You see; I don't read it from a book, I just do it.
When I think about it, I generally pray to "Lord Jesus", or "dear Lord". Don't ask me why. That is just the way it is. It is the same to me. Jesus is God. God is Jesus.
To: vmatt
I don't believe the Bible tells us to pray to Jesus (I'm sure someone will point it out if I'm wrong), but that does not preclude me from doing it. Jesus as Saviour is God, and I pray to God and worship him.
To: OLD REGGIE
I don't read it from a book... When you read Scripture, don't you consider it a form of prayer?
To: Titanites
And if you did it for yours, you'd still be the smallest.
Do you care to tell me what "mine" is?

Yawn...now I know why the regulars quite posting on the weekends:)

To: OLD REGGIE; Titanites
I pray to the Father as Jesus instructed. I do not presuppose to tell others how to pray. I too have prayed to Jesus but I now feel that is error and shows a dangerous and wilfull disregard of Jesus' explicit instruction once understood. I am curious as to the spirit praying for you as mentioned in scripture.
