This is supposed to somehow be scandalous, but the truth is that the Catholic Encyclopedia is put out by laymen. And while it is useful, if anything it says is in conflict with an official teaching then the official teaching (obviously) is official.

AND Papal Encyclicals, various Church Councils, old Catechisms, etc. IOW Anything which conflicts with TODAY'S OFFICIAL TEACHING.

You have a hard time distinguishing between lay and officla documents, don't you? And those of a limited scope and those meant to be official for all?

Thank you. Usually the train station analogy doesn't get any response. So this pizza one is doing better already.

Obviously she thought she needed a saviour or wouldn't have said it. What's so tough about understanding that?

Where are they on birth control and divorce?

Gee. The birth rate in Italy, for example, is among the lowest in the world. Do you suppose they accomplish this by abstinence? The birth rate among Catholics and NC's in the U.S. is just about the same. Talk is cheap.

Interesting question. If biblewonk has a mother than can't we call her "The mother of Biblewonk"?

She spoke of her Savior, as in one who had saved her. She had been Saved already. She needed a savior. We agree on that. We think she was saved from a life of sin, you think she was saved after a life of sin.

Very good. It is the unproven assertion of the Bible only Christian that the "Word" is only the Book, and what one makes of that Book at that.

Are you willing to put your eternal life on the line over what some man tells you is the word of God?

If so, God may choose to teach you as he taught me, and that was to trust not in the wisdom of man, or in what I or others think. JH

2 Cor 1:9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:

Indeed. Or "Wonkotokos," if you prefer.

Legend says her eyesight was restored before her death. This and the meaning of her name led to her connection with eyes, the blind, eye trouble, etc.

LEGEND

A proveable miracle would consist of something similar to growing back a missing leg or arm. Do you have any such cases?

Believing that God is capable of preserving us from sin, if he so chooses, is all that one must "jump hoops through." You must believe that eventually you will live without sin, through the power of God. So the only leap to make is that God has the ability to do for Mary what He will someday do for you.

Is that a hoop to jump thru for you?

How do you prove anything to a scoffer? We could show you testimony after testimony of people who got healed at Lourdes, for instance. You would dismiss them all.

Some man told you the Bible was.

You are right, and I didn't take his word for it, I have proved it for myself, why would I build my eternal future on a book that another an told me was of God?

That was the first thing I had to prove to myself, that was the foundation of all my beliefs after Christ entered my life, him being the first. (^g^) JH

Dead right. If you don't have it on paper, don't offer it. I got Fury, allend and Dave for doing this kind of thing, and it's no different here.

See, it is a personal thing to you. You "got" me. So one cannot even speculate about Aramaic because there are no Aramaic texts of the NT, correct?

Of course, having a Bible that is faithful to the Scriptures is helpful. What Bible do you use, Havoc? I suppose you will not answer and instead take to task all the documents and sources that others provide. But there is always hope.

Unless you got one of those new gender versions of the Bible is pretty obvious that all men are sinners.

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Great big hoop I'd say.

There are no exceptions? (Except for Jesus, that is.)Every person ever born sinned.
