AND Papal Encyclicals, various Church Councils, old Catechisms, etc. IOW Anything which conflicts with TODAY'S OFFICIAL TEACHING. You have a hard time distinguishing between lay and officla documents, don't you? And those of a limited scope and those meant to be official for all?

I have no problem at all understanding what a lay document is but, for the life of me, I have no idea what an "officla" document is. Please enlighten me. As for documents which are meant to have limited scope and those meant to be official for all; it is difficult to pin down a fast, slippery snake. Do you have a secret? Are you seriously telling me the understanding of certain canons and Papal Encyclicals haven't changed over time?
