Im agreeing with the Catholics in principle. That principle being that if you do things with meaning that increase your relationship with God, then by all means do it. If you are doing something because the church said so, or bobby said so, or in vanity than I would caution one agianst it, because there is no life in it.

Thank you. I would like to say that if the Church demands such a thing from people it is in the interest of growing such good habits. Sometimes we need a push.

There is a danger in forcing people to do things in the church (like tithing, fasting, etc) because it can lead to legalism and lose life. Lose revelation. Do it because you feel God is asking it of you. Do it because it will draw you closer to God.

Say someone has never heard of Christ, but commits sin as we all do, then how is he justified before God???

We will be judged more harshly, according to the bible (I reference our earlier messages regarding Capernaum and Sodom), because we know better but continue to sin. Wow ... that's an eye-opening statement, isn't it? Guess we'd better behave ourselves, eh?

You can only accept Salvation while you are alive on this earth. Once you pass away, that is it. John 3:16 pretty much sums up what you have to do to become saved, and the story of Lazarus and the rich man (Luke 16:20-31)pretty much illustrates that you can't get salvation after you have died. Also, read Romans again and again and again.

"And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. Then how about the men at your church (hypothetically) who have met every Wed morning at 6am to pray and read scripture? What about your (hypothetical) daily bible study or quite time with the Lord? What about Baptist churches that meet every Wed in addition to Sunday services? Does the second sentence apply to those "ritual" observances as well? Or is it only if the Catholics decide to do something as a group that it becomes a "work"?

I just deleted a page of answers to you when I realized it had a common denominator, and that is, all the above are matters of free will and free choice, and not church doctrine or policy that you as a member, you have to agree to when you join.

I don't know of any church that takes something like Bible study or prayer meetings, and then tell you that you are sinning if you don’t attend them.

All is between man and God, and since Christ is the head of the Church, he is the only one I have to account to.
