That's why the missionary women are in Afghanistan (the ones that are being held hostage), to tell these people the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ, so that they could come out of their darkness and have a new life in Jesus Christ.

That's an uphill road my friend.
Like another road long ago.

You would think simple math would convince these Muslim youths of the folly of this nonsense. If there is roughly a 1:1 ratio between men and women, then where do these 72 "virgins" come from? And once these virgins are "deflowered" then where do the next batch come from? Is there some neverending supply of virgins in Muslim heaven.

Along the same vein as what you wrote:
Mohammed used the trick of a temporary truce (permitted in Islam) to make a treaty called the Hudaibiya Treaty with the Jewish Koraish tribe. But, in 628 C.E. at the Khaidar Oasis, Mohammed killed them. Arafat often claims that the Oslo Treaty is similar to the Hudaibiya Treaty which Mohammed violated with impunity when he was militarily stronger.
Yea, we can do business with these people.

To put it into a more understandable context - the people who follow this line of Islamic thinking are putting the person's existence on Earth as a kind of Purgatory. The more quickly you can exit and gain Bliss and Exstacy the better.
It's the perfect way to 'splain the kind of misery most of these people have to endure on a daily basis...abject poverty perpetuated by the lack of education and opportunity. Keep them forever poor, but promise them the unimagineable after death.
"The Force has a powerful effect on the weak-minded." There are SO many truths in the Star Wars series it boggles the mind.

I would extrapolate that to the capacity for good or evil that's present in mankind, in general. This is why the Judeo-Christian worldview makes so much sense - man's fall, his ability to use free will in order to accomplish good or evil and the redemption message offered by Christ.
However, if these accounts are true (of the brainwashing of the kids, etc.) how is this any different than the Hitler Jungen or Mao's regime? If the kids are taught to hate Jews and Christians so fiercely, how in the world can we ever expect them to accept a Western point of view?
Furthermore, why has our media been so complicit in not uncovering this apparently pervasive Arab viewpoint?

Is there some neverending supply of virgins in Muslim heaven. When they get to "heaven", Allah gives them a choice of two styles of virgins:
Mimi
OR
Janet
Hence no problems with running out of virgins.

I can try to improve on that comment.
If they don't stop with the human bombs, they may just invite those nuclear bombs.

If there is roughly a 1:1 ratio between men and women Is the Taliban's violence against women intended to skew this ratio, thus ensuring a large number of horny yet unfulfilled males?

I think this story tells us that instead of bombs, we should drop American porn in the Middle East. The recruiting pool would dry up pretty quick.

Ugh!
I don't think they'd pass as "virgins."

"Human capacity for evil"
It's isn't the human that's the problem. It's the spirit of the human that's the problem. Without the life of Jesus Christ as a reality in people's lives, people do have the capacity to do great evil.

My experience and my understanding of Scripture leads me to believe that the flesh--even all creation--has been polluted by the propensity to listen to lies and avoid--at least miss the mark of perfection to go our own way for shallow goals, shallow appetites, temporary feel goodies.

Concur.
I think we may be one of the most paridoxical generations ever.
I believe Islam will become more horrible before it is neutralized terminally. . . . only to be followed by something more horrible. . . .
But THAT will be followed by the Prince of Peace. . . the best of times and the worst of times. . . indeed, even the Bible says the world will undergo a time worse than any other time past or future. . . . followed by perfect Peace.
I suppose I should be honored as well as humbled to be alive now--humbled I am--but I'd usually just as soon trade any honor for the next/earliest elevator UP!

Your only hope over your flesh is to yield to your spitit. Of course, if your spirit is ruled by your flesh, you are in real trouble. When a person get's born again, he has the tools necessary to develop his spirit to have control over his flesh. It takes time and diligence. I do believe it was Paul who said, "I do what I don't want to do, but I don't do what I know I should do". If Paul had to gropple with this, I'm sure I will too - but Paul finished his race, and I plan to finish mine.
