This new creation, which is nothing less than a paradise glorified, is also that New Jerusalem, which John depicts as follows: "No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and the lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face" (Rev. 22:3–4). Once again, God and humanity will dwell together just as they did in Eden, only this time "for ever and ever."

Amen!! Even so come, Lord Jesus.

Very interesting. I'll have to give the covenant discussion more thought.

Bump for later study!

This outlook, in effect, limits eschatology to those issues relating to the timing of the Rapture...

Jerry, it is my understanding that the Calvinists hold that the Bible does not teach a pre-Trib. Rapture of the Church. Is this correct?

It has been my experience that you will find as many eschatalogical stances within Calvinism as you will within Christianity as a whole. Pre-, Post-, and A- millenial factions can be found in different circles, and lots of variations within these circles.

I personally hold to a historical pre-millenial position (for now), but have had an interesting eschatalogical pilgrimage. Jokingly, I refer to myself as a "pan-millenialist", knowing that it will all "pan out" in the end.

One other thing: Southern Baptists, both Calvinistic and otherwise, also have a considerable amount of eschatalogical diversity. The Baptist Faith and Message, does a good job when it states:

X. Last Things

God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth; the dead will be raised; and Christ will judge all men in righteousness. The unrighteous will be consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting punishment. The righteous in their resurrected and glorified bodies will receive their reward and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord.

Muslims believe Jesus will return that the dead will be raised and GOD will judge each individual who will then be cast into heaven or hell.

Your point would be?

Even though I think you are reading way too much into Muslim teachings (Muslims believe that Jesus Christ is the agent of God's eschatological purposes?), why would any of us be surprised if Muslim error somewhat echoes Christian truth? Satan knows that a half-truth is far more convincing than an outright lie.

My point would be! that I am not reading to much into Muslim teaching you are not reading into it enough. Muslims believe in Jesus (pbuh) as a prophet of God just like Adam, Moses, Noah, etc... Muslims believe that the virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus(pbuh) and that he will indeed return to fight the Dajul(antichrist) Don't be afraid when the Muslims Jews and Christians find a common ground embrace it because in my opinion that is the absolute truth if the three agree.Peace!

BTTT

What's that old saying? Something like, "Satan will tell 99% of the truth ... just to float one big lie."

It's easy to palm off a counterfeit (money, or anything else) onto those who don't, or can't, recognize the "Real McCoy".

This reasoning produces the ironic situation in which those who speak most frequently about eschatology actually have the least to say. By limiting eschatology and Bible prophecy to the Rapture and the millennium, and by tying Old Testament prophecies to literal future fulfillments, the proper place of Christ's role in biblical prophecy is eclipsed. ,

Amen to that statement. It seems to me that the "endtimers" concentrate on their favorite versus and forget the overarching message of Christ the Redeemer.

forthedeclaration-How are the dogmatics of dispensationalism different from the dogmatics of covenantialism?

I took a New Testament Class last year..the professer was a Baptist..brillant man (now teaching at Colgate I believe) He kept stressing that all of scripture is prophetic..not just a few verses..

I too will be interested in fortheDeclarations take on this!

Not! Muslims believe in a works based salvation that really isn't a salvation at all; in other words, it is not Eternally gained.

The Muslim view and belief about Jesus is as blasphemous as the Mormons; JW's (if I understand their views correctly); and many other supposedly "professing" Christian denominations which all deny the Nature of God in one fashion or another.

Personally, I find it distasteful to

Don't be afraid when the Muslims Jews and Christians find a common ground embrace it because in my opinion that is the absolute truth if the three agree.

There is only 1 Truth and 1 Name by which a man may be saved. Unless Muslims, non-converted Jews, and any person in general repents and embraces the Truth about Christ the only God glorifying Truth they will embrace after they die is to fall upon their face before the Terror of the Lord, confess that He is Lord, and then enjoy the debt of their works.

Sorry, but I will stand upon the High Ground of the Rock of my Salvation.

It is a dangerous mentality indeed, that believes absolute Truth is determined by human beings.

Our whole Constitution and other founding documents, are based upon the fact that the Framers recognized the absolute Truth contained in the Holy (God-breathed) Scriptures, that the rights and freedoms of men come from God, and are therefore inalieable.

It makes no difference what the opinions of relativistic men are on the subject.
