Here is a link to the story --- MADISON SCHOOL BOARD BANS PLEDGE, STAR SPANGLED BANNER
When I read the story, I thought it had to be from the ONION or another humor site. It had to be a FReeper just spoofing us. But it wasn't.
In something that epitomizes what the political left has done to this nation since the 60s, the Madison School Board banned -- no, didn't say that it would be optional -- they banned the pledge of allegiance and the singing of the Star Spangled Banner in their school system.
So, the question has to be asked. If Madison is invaded by Arab terrorists, is it worth taking up arms to defend them? Perhaps we could allow the terrorists to play with them awhile before we kick them out. If they destroyed the town, and particularly the Communist University, we could start over.
I think I'd let the Arabs have the town for about two weeks. Maybe the women then wouldn't think that right wingers were all that bad. The more I think about it, I might give them a month.

Yes, but only because my parents live there. There's also a nice trout stream near by;-)

Good cheese up that way. Not much else.

Cede it to the Northern Alliance as a vacation spot. I'm sure they would appreciate the attentions of an ethnic Uzbek or Tadjik. After all, all cultures are...

No, it's not worth defending, but then- no one will ever invade it since it is already enemy territory. But if I get any funny envelopes in the mail from someone named Achmed, I will happily forward them to Madison, Wisconsin.
Wonder if anthrax can be used to innoculate cheese?

Absolutely agree. Not one more cent from the taxpayers to support this trash. Let them have the communist society they desire.

Wonder if anthrax can be used to innoculate cheese? LOL. Now that's really funny. Good call.

And on the other side of the coin...
Neal Boortz said this today:
We take you now to Rocklin, Calif., where the American Civil Liberties Union has demonstrated just how far to the left the organization really is.
The target of its protest is Breen Elementary School. After Sept. 11, a marquee in front of the school was changed to read "God Bless America."
The ACLU doesn't like this message one bit. They were notified by a parent whose child attends the school and was "greatly troubled by the sign."
On Wednesday, the ACLU of Northern California sent a letter to Breen Elementary's administrators. Staff Counsel Margaret Crosby said the message "must be replaced immediately" and called it a "clear violation of the California and United States constitutions, as well as the California Education Code." She said the words "God Bless America" sent "a hurtful, divisive message." On Friday, she added that "by displaying a religious message, the Breen Elementary School is dividing its young students along religious lines. School officials are hurting and isolating their schoolchildren of minority faiths when they should be supporting them and the values of pluralism and tolerance."
Huh? This isn't a religious expression. The sign isn't saying "God Bless You." It's promoting a patriotic message. How in the hell does a patriotic expression isolate and divide students?
The administrators at Breen Elementary, bless their hearts, won't remove the words from the marquee. Breen Elementary's principal, Terry Thornton, told the Sacramento Bee, "We are planning on keeping up our message."
The ACLU of Northern California says it's "entirely unprecedented" for a school to refuse to take down such a message. In other words, they're not accustomed to resistance.
Let's hope the good folks at Breen Elementary can withstand the pressure from an organization that's becoming less and less credible with every passing day.
You go Neal!!

IF MADISON, WISCONSIN IS INVADED, IS IT WORTH DEFENDING? It isn't worth it for any American to defend Madison, Wisconsin. Let them defend themselves. Perhaps they'll gather in a circle, light candles, and sing kumbaya while they're being attacked.

You have a great idea. We build timeshares in Wisconsin for the Northern Alliance after they destroy the Taliban and shave, behead, and castrate bin Laden. The University can be moved to Afghanistan along with most of its residents.

Can't we all just get along. Well, no. And in reference to the question on defending Madison, WI, the answer is no. Give the whole damned state to Canada. Along with Minnesota.

Good rhetorical question..

I would say no, but there are many places in the US that qualifies just as much as Madison, Wisconsin.

Evacuate the children then let Ben Laden have at it.

If there wasn't so much Gore/DNC election fraud Wisconsin would have gone to GW. Wisconsin is undergoing a political shift, outside of Madison, and it is away from liberalism...unlike Minnesota. Let us not pile on Wisconsin because of their small den of campus collectivism. It is a truly a beautiful state in more ways than one.

Now everyone wait just one minute. As someone who lives just a couple miles outside of Madison, I think you all have a lot of nerve condemning our fine city. Madison has a lot going for it. On the down side we've got a lesbian mayor, a lesbian fire chief, an 80% lesbian police department, and the FIRST openly lesbian congresswoman in the USA. Our city was 70% for Ralph Nader until election day when they all voted for algore. Our schools are out of money but the school district just hired a counselor for gay/lesbian/bi/transgendered students for a mere $80,000 a year. Subaru's outnumber chevrolets and and rainbow flags outnumber the Stars and Stripes. We have a great free zoo, but recently the elephants were moved to a game preserve in Texas because "wild animals shouldn't be confined".
BUT, on the up side......well....uhhhh. Nevermind. Just make sure all the damage stays within city limits. The rest of Wisconsin is worth saving.

Great post. Is the police dept. really overwhelmingly lezbo? Yep, Subaru is their car of choice.

Parents should disown their children if they are participating in this trash. There has never been more of a reason for war in my lifetime.
