Late Friday, NBC's Pete Williams reported that the FBI considers this a potentially huge lead.

If we had outlawed box cutters this tragedy would never have happened.

And what, pray tell, were they hoping to hit from San Antonio? The Crawford ranch? NASA? The Dallas Cowboys? The Clinton Library? Seriously, after you've hit WTC and the Pentagon, what's there to hit in Texas that would make the same sort of political statement?
Of course, it could have been the only bomb the Cowboys would catch this season...

The authorities confirmed that the two men were flying to San Antonio from Newark Can't say that I blame them...Ever tried to get a decent plate of enchiladas verdes in Newark?

Two Men with box cutters, hair dye and a large amount of cash who were seized by federal authorities on an Amtrack train in Fort Worth on Wednesday I once heard a story about a DNR ranger happening up on some good old boys around a campfire one night, and he spotted a few items around them. He said something to the effect of, "Boys, when you see flour, eggs and sugar, you pretty much conclude somebody's bakin' a cake. Now what I see here are rifles, a couple of Q-beams and buck lure. You boys are doing some baking tonight, and somebody here better start talkin' to me about it right now."

These dumb sh#ts! After the bombings, why wouldn't they ditch the box cutters? Thank God that all the dumb criminals aren't Americans.

The story doesn't mention whether the men were Ragheads or Camel Jocks, or even their nationality. If they had been women, they probably would have been tagged as "persons."
Such is PC, we have to tippy-toe around to find out what is actually going on.

I was listening to a Dallas radio station Friday morning, KDMX 102.9 FM and they were interviewing a law enforcement official. He had some information which is covered in your article and MORE: They had $10,000 in cash on them. They gave false names and every question they answered was false. They were heading for San Antonio (which I understand was a major "wheel" in the drug distribution system out of Mexico - I DON'T expect any drug connection, though).
MAJOR news from the law enforcement was that the TIP that something was going down was an unauthorized phone call to Air Force One Tuesday morning just when Bush was heading back to D.C. The unauthorized caller (that in itself was a security violation) knew the code name for President Bush AND Air Force One! This is when they diverted to Barksdale A.F.B. and etc. The call occurred about the same time as the WTC events were unfolding.

It is possible the entire team did not make it on board their particular flight and so these two did not attempt a hijacking without the entire team on board. My guess is a likely target on the east coast since they departed Newark.
