Celebrating World No Tobacco Day
FORCES.ORG ^ | May 31, 2004 | FORCES

May 31, 2004:

Yes, you read the title correctly. We're celebrating, because we're helping to take them on.

While the day is usually greeted by an annual flood of orchestrated media events and press conference strategies that demonize, not only smoking, but smokers, World No Tobacco Day 2004 offers something new: a competitor with teeth.

FORCES is pleased to be part of the proud announcement by AEthna Press of the publication of "Dissecting Antismokers' Brains" by Michael J. McFadden on World No Tobacco Day.

Memorial Day is the "unnoffical" start of summer in the USA, let us make it the official start of the end of the anti reign of terror on smokers.

Usually, FORCES does not celebrate World No Tobacco Day. It is after all, a holiday of the Antismokers! However, this year is different.

After a steady buildup of power throughout the 1990s the new millennium has seen the Antismoking Crusade fall over the edge separating simple extremism from outright insanity. For years they built their power and success on such basic propaganda tricks as “saving the children” and through building a baseless fear of normal exposures to indoor tobacco smoke.

The last few years have seen a climactic change in their approach however. Their fixation on “zero-tolerance”, their insistence on the need for 300 mile per hour winds in smoking sections, their drive for tax increases reaching literally into the thousands of percent in some cases, and their drive to ban open air smoking on patios and beaches in the push to “Denormalize” smokers, have combined to unveil the true madness under their extremism.

This insanity is exposed and the lies used in its promotion are revealed on May 31st, World No Tobacco Day, with the full publication of Dissecting Antismokers’ Brains by Michael J. McFadden (see AntiBrains for detailed information)

McFadden’s thoroughly documented book hurls a broadside at the heart of the Antismoking Crusade, exploring the distortions of language, law and science used in pursuit of a tobacco-free world. His main focus and most heavily referenced arguments concern claims about the dangers from ordinary contact with secondary smoke but he also examines the damage to the social fabric brought about by smoking bans and discriminatory taxes and practices.

The author’s graduate training in statistics and propaganda analysis shines through in the care he’s taken to back up his claims with over 600 references while his close work with citizen activists over the past 20 years has given him the ability to translate that care into a style that will speak to almost any reader.

That style is aimed at both the casual barroom regular and the college classroom. It is comfortable for either casual section-by-section browsing or following a logical progression of scientific analyses that will find a solid home in academia. World No Tobacco Day 2004, rather than being a celebration of a powerful lobby’s success in achieving bans and dictating to the media, may turn out to be the Antismokers' Last Stand as people learn how they’ve been lied to and manipulated by those bent on socially engineering the perfect world.

FORCES wishes Mr. McFadden the best of luck with the full release of Dissecting Antismokers’ Brains and will watch with glee as it sweeps across the dried cornfields of Antismokers’ mental derangement. While his approach is a bit more conservative than some we usually espouse, we believe he makes up for it with his enthusiasm and fresh insights: May 31st, 2004 will truly mark the beginning of the end of the era of Anti Madness.

If your Terrifying Image Doesn't awaken us, then we are FAR TOO ASLEEP to understand the Propagandistic Forces Arrayed against us.

We have been too somnolent for too many years to understand the EVIL arrayed against us.

DESPITE what our Grandparents Faced, we have fallen into a "Generation-Long-Sleep."

An EVIL which NEVER SLEPT has now attacked us--& we were not ready. We THought that we had STOMPED evil @ Hiroshima & Nagasaki, but we are faced with Sociopaths Bent on World Domination--Despite our Demonstration that "The West" WILL NOT accede to ANY FORM of "World Domination."

Radical Islam (Wahhabiism) is INCAPABLE of accepting a world NOT "Dominated By" "Islam."

Despite the fact that MOST of the Citizens of the World DO NOT ASCRIBE TO ISLAM, one particular sect of Islam expects that the Rest of the World will accept it's Tenets.

"The Crusades" occurred because "Christianity" & "ISLAM" were unable to reconcile their "Differences!"

There STILL EXIST Psychopathic sects of "Islam" who CANNOT UNDERSTAND that the artificial "Rift" between "Islam" & "Christianity" has LONG SINCE been resolved.

There STILL EXIST "Islamic Extremists" who NEVER LEARNED that "Islam" & "Christianity" represent the SAME FAITH.

& SO we Fight a Worthless Conflict--"WE'RE ON THE SAME SIDE!!!"

Eventually, the "Combatants" will "GET IT,"--& STOP FIGHTING!!!

I think I have to blame beer, LOL!

Maybe I should sue? Beer made me smoke! Maybe I should try to bring back prohibition? That always works well!

The tyranny of the majority is in full view now, and they don't even understand the blatant unconstitutional laws they are making.

Little minds have a very real capacity to make the world hell. "Useful idiots" is indeed a very good term to describe these folks.

That's too bad because it's pretty country up there.I got to visit my aunt and uncle in Boston and we took a trip through New Hampshire and Maine.I was oblivious of the political climate at the time.

Arioch wrote: "Well, the only thing I can say is that I WILL NOT COMPLY! Who the hell do they think they are, telling me what to do in my own private property. If they want me to not smoke in my own business, then they can come with the police and arrest me by force."

Unfortunately that's the direction it's going in. The laws are now increasingly being written with provisions for fines AND/OR jail time. Plus, I imagine it's pretty automatic in most cases that if you won't pay a fine you get jail time.

We already know that some higher level criminals are being released early due to prison crowding in order to keep inmates in longer who have lost their "good time" by being caught with tobacco. No one's done any research on how many of course: the Antis would certainly never fund it and the tobacco companies don't want to admit that criminals smoke in the first place.

Arioch also wrote: "I am sure that the next thing will be that cigarettes cause global warming and everyone must stop smoking to protect the earth."

Try going to cigarettelitter.com (or .org?) and you'll find a pseudo-scientific piece of nonsense that makes it sound like smokers are threatening all life in the ocean (which would of course then threaten all life on earth.) What makes the science "pseudo" is that when you actually compute the rough volume of the world's oceans and apply their figures you'd find that every cigarette butt smoked for the next 80,000 years or so would need to be dumped into the ocean and never biodegrade for the threat to exist.

Of course that sort of little exaggeration is stock in trade for the Antis.

I hear you there. When I buy my first house, it will be in New Hampshire, not Mass. I refer to my fellow citizens of Mass. as the "Human Plague" as they move en masse to other states and proceed to vote in the same stupid crap that they are fleeing from. It is truly bizarre.

I love this state as I grew up here but it really is a lost cause. I probably hate Mass a lot more than most of the folks on FR. It is tinged with sadness though. We used to be one of the great ones.

NH had an influx of massholes during the nineties but it seems to be recovering nicely. If you could just hear some of my peers that moved up there because they could not afford to live in Mass but are still dedicated Democrats. It turns the stomach! The ones I know that moved to NH like it but are HORRIFIED at the pro-gun nature of the state. I actually call Mass the "Sissy Nation". I can't even buy my nephews military toys because their parents disapprove.

The reason I am addressing everyone in this post is that I want to wake them up to the very real problem of the "Human Plague". We have wrecked Florida. When I lived in Florida, it was 90% Conservative. Immigrants and massholes have actually made it a swing state in less then a decade. The insane part is that they FLED Mass. to get away from that crap but they can not understand that politics and the economic situation of a state are linked.

Also, the next state that the massholes are loving is Arizona. They will all vote very left wing. I always say to my leftie friends that it is great that they want all that crazy stuff but couldn't they keep it at HOME and leave the rest of the country alone? Now we give the country Senator Kerry, LOL! He has no chance no matter what his press allies say.

In honor of the worldwide no smoking day, I now crack open a beer and light up my Marlboro. If you are ever in Cape Ann over the summer and see some Scuba Divers smoking cigarettes, say hi. I am there just about every weekend, and I have never seen any other divers smoking so chances are it's me, LOL!

I hope you all have a great memorial day!

The "Anti-Smoking" Crusade has LITTLE to do with Smoking.

Many of us have been saying that for years.

Of course when we do our sanity, intelligence, conservatism, parentage, sexuality, parenting skills and a host of other things are immediately called into question.

Now Gabz... I can't tell if this graphics is intended to depict the way smokers see ourselves, or how the antismoking nazis see us.

While still cheaper than NY, NJ or PA, Delaware doubled the cig tax to 50cents a pack last year........and Virginia's tax is going from 25cents a carton to $3.00 a carton over the next 15 months or so.

Still alot cheaper than NY, NJ, or PA - but not much less than Delaware, when you consider the price of gas and the fact Richmond raised the sales tax a half cent..........

Well, I am waiting for the extra chapters that address the options for suing for civil rights violation under equaal protection, and as a result of fraud and deceit in "documenting" the need for outdoor bans.

Also the unintended consequences of singling out an identifyable group for punitive taxation. I nominate the gays and their trillion dollar bill for AIDS as the next group to pay for their "lifestyle" choice.
Followed by the heart disease crowd, the moby dicks...

You'd like to think people are quitting, when in fact, smokers are 55 million plus strong.

Smokers outnumber the AARP and the NRA.  Sorry to burst your bubble, but people who enjoy smoking are not quitting.

LOL! Now Gabz, I *did* buy you a beer when I came to visit last year. In the Antis' handbook that would make you a "Mike McFadden Front Group."

Fine, I'll send you a check for $1.50 to cover the cost of the beer............LOL!!!!

Who was it here that said he liked to walk around non-smoking areas with an unlighted pipe because it pisses them off so bad.

Me me!
Xcept it's not a pipe, it's an unlit cigarette. Drives them bonkers!

Works at department stores, shopping malls, restaurants, outdoor concerts, at the beach, walking down the street.

I am working on getting a supply of imitation cigarettes to defuse the expected tactic of claiming that their neurosis sensitivity is so exquisite that the mere presence of a cigrette, lit or not, within 200 feet will ruin their clothes and sent them into shock.

And the moron city councils and boards of supervisors would buy the argument!

But the business's are making better revenue now with the smoking population of NYC going over to NJ.

And any bar or restaurant owner along the MD/DE line will tell you the same thing because of the DE ban.

I know because I used to be one of those Delawareans that drove the extra couple of miles to Maryland for happy hour.

I KNOW it. In the chat rooms, there is an "ignore button" when someone is obnoxious or you just don't care to read anything they have to say. It's so relaxing. I wish FR had that feature!

I have found from experience that even the densest idiot will get the hint if he/she is universally ignored. All it takes to keep it coming back is any kind of attention.
An ignore button shouldn't be necessary.
