Warren Haynes is currently one of the lead guitarist for the Allman Brothers (along with the next guitar god, Derek Trucks). He also has his own excellent band, Gov't Mule and is going to tour with the Dead this summer. He truly is the hardest working man in show business.

For those of you that do the downloading thing, find the live version of "Feelin' Alright" by Gov't Mule, with special guests Derek Trucks and Chuck Levell. I can't stop playing it for some reason, it's awesome.

This list is bogus, totally bogus because of the exclusion of Duane Allman, Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks.

LOL!

From my profile page:

These are my favorite guitar players listed in no particular order.

Trying to put the guys on that list in any kind of order is impossible. They are all number 1.

Your list is great....especially the last entry.

Son would be proud to be on (2) FReeper profile pages.

I'll not forget SRV.
My list is: Jimmy #1, SRV #2. The rest, I don't care much.

I figured; it just gave me a chuckle.

And agreed: Keaggy is awesome. Just think if he had TEN fingers!

But Terry Kath belongs up there. Gone too soon.

Well, what do you know? Who'd a think it? I love Son--he was the real deal.
Thanks.

Condolences for your dog. I know that has got to be tough.

Your taste in women is superb, by the way.

53 & 77 should be number one and number two . IMO the list is flawed if these guys were this far down the list. Was the list just a list or does it rank the artists ?

Also I have found that most "list's" are impaired by the age of those who suggest them. Dick Dale didn't make the list either...(or I just missed it) .....too bad.

Stay safe !

"hmmmm and anyone who's listened to the original Woodstock album has to be awed by speed and nimble fingers of Alvin Lee?"

Alvin Lee with Ten Years After was phenonmenal. One of the first concerts I ever saw, Lee just strolls out on stage, smokin' a cigarette (those days are gone), jeans, t-shirt, crowd goes bonkers. It was great. No light-show or pyro-technics, just a$$-kicking R&R. Those were the days the acts would play for 2 1/2 hours or so. Takes me back!

Interesting that Manson's guitarist didn't make it.

Not in the least.

What no Merle Travis nor Roy Clark and as you stated the great one is not there either - Chet ! Someone needs to educate the selection committee.

I'm definitely glad to see Glen Buxton on both lists, though. THAT was good music!

What about Dave Navarro? (Jane's Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers)

Thank you! I'm reading this list and thread thinking WTF ABOUT DAVE NAVARRO. Dude should be included on strength of Three Days alone, much less the rest of Jane's material. His sense of melody with balls is phenomenal.

Steve Vai is by far the most talented guitar player on the scene today and will be for a long time.

Did I just scroll too fast?...No Pat Metheney??

What do you expect from a list that has Jimi Hendrix at #12 and Jeff Beck at #24? Obviously a few too many headbangers participated in this poll for it to have much interest outside of that little clique...
