The author's premise, that kids are suffering because the lack of legal gay marriage is disturbing to me.
For the life of me, I can't understand how these children are allowed to be adopted by same-sex parents. I won't get into the religous debate, but that violates the laws of nature. The only help these kids need are from adoption agencies promoting a politically correct gay lifestyle. Not only that, what are the psychological affects on a child.
As an adoptee, I'm baffled on why this is allowed to happen to begin with.

Nic's story is a shameful reminder to state legislatures, courts and Congress that children shouldn't suffer while adults squabble over same-sex marriage. That's right. Get those kids away from the abonomation. Give them a good, healthy home. There are thousands of heterosexual couples willing to adopt.

Well, I guess Eva needs to get a job.
Sorry, I'm a stay at home mom too. My Mate (husband in my case) and I don't even think about SS should something happen to one of us. We plan with savings and life insurance to take care of our kids.
They may have stated that they would be together forever, but life has no guarantees. Sorry Nic doesn't get SS benefits for a non birth parent. When I raised my niece and nephew, they would not either if something happened to me. It's life, plan for it.
If the gays really wanted only the benefits, they would be for the investment of part of their SS payments. This way one could name a beneficary.

It appears that Eva is the actual birth mother, so no adoption was required on her part. It also appears that Camille never formally adopted Nic.
My next question is, who is Nic's biological father?
This mess is one of the ladies' own making. And yes, I do feel sorry for the child.

Camille Caracappa, Eva Kadrey and their toddler, Nic, had created an idyllic life.......... of perversion.
Get that baby to a safe place for Gods sake. It's just a baby.

Gay adoption is an issue I'm torn on. I think it's one of those things we shouldn't be encouraging, but if a gay couple meets all of the other criteria, I don't see any real reason to keep them from adopting.

Good question. I'm of the opinion that gay couples shouldn't have kids. I think it's too potentially psychologically damaging to a child.

Since most states haven't yet managed to keep drug addicts and child abusers from adopting through the state system, it seems premature (to say the least) to fixate on preventing law-abiding, self-supporting gay couples from adopting. Just saw an article on AP today about a heterosexual couple who'd adopted several children, and chose to starve the boys (but not the girls) -- three are recovering, but the fourth, a 19 year old who weighed 45 pounds when discovered, is still hospitalized in serious condition.

"We planned him together, he has (Camille's) last name, and we baptized him Catholic because it was important to Camille and her family." Oh puke!

People said the same thing about mixed race couples 30-40 years ago. I'd bet there are people who read FR who still think that.
Simple fact, lesbians being able to have children from sperm bank donations (or friends with turkey basters) will not go away. Whether or not we believe that the parents are good or evil, should the kids suffer? Are they not blameless for the conditions of their conception, birth, and upbringing?
To: LiberalSlayer99
I think it's too potentially psychologically damaging to a child. Boys in a lesbian household would lack the concept of manlyhood. Females raised in a homosexual male household would not understand the concept of real femininity.
Boys in a male homosexual home, and females in a lesbian home also are at higher risk of molestation/indoctrination.
The number of boy molestations by homosexual men is becomming a normal headline. Nambla is demanding the right to have sex with children.
In my opinion, keeping all children away from the sexually dysfunctional is the better idea. Otherwise, the childrens developement, as well as their physical bodies, are at risk. One child molested by a homosexual devient is one too many. One child taught this horrable life of dispare is way too many.

Personally, I could care less what 2 adults do in the privacy of their own homes. If they want to be gay I don't have a problem with it. It's their lives. I DO have a problem with gay couples having children via sperm banks/adoption. I won't even get into the religious argument that some FReepers will enjoin, but the bottom line here is that gays having kids violate the laws of nature. Bottom line. They can't have kids on their own. The equipment doesn't function that way.
Your statement about mixed race couples doesn't hold water. You're comparing apples and oranges. Even with mixed race hetero couples, the equipment still works...naturally.
To: hunter112
Whether or not we believe that the parents are good or evil, should the kids suffer? Have you ever look straight into the eyes of an innocent child? Have you ever looked into the eyes of a homosexual? Big difference. One saintly, the other lusting for a sexual satisfaction they'll never find.
It's not good to leave children around homosexuals. There's something evil about them. They're like sexual vampires, always thirsty, but never quenched.

Your statement about mixed race couples doesn't hold water. Homosexuals choose deviency. Race is not a choice. Comparing the two ARE like comparing apples to oranges. They have nothing in common.

Yeh, criteria like being of the opposite sex. Seems like an arbitrary criteria, to tell you the truth. Unlike with marriage, I don't see why it's relevant here.
