That reminded me To send this annual letter. The Tragedy of Women in Combat

As of December 2015, infantry, mechanized and armored regimental combat teams became bureaucratic toys for those imagining equal opportunity and affirmative action could coexist with warriors enduring the brutality imperative for victory.

In combat operations only the most severe restrictions on human emotions and behaviors can foster the uniquely understood high morale, good order and discipline, and unit cohesion. Human sexuality cannot intrude into this authoritarian meritocracy where only those displaying the greatest savagely can win.

At the point of collision, our troops face situations requiring exceptional physical capabilities and unbelievably sacrificial, primitive and intimate relations. They continuously face extraordinary stress punctuated by killing other humans within inherently chaotic and brittle environments.

National defense through war involves the ultimate Olympics. There is much less excuse for merging men and women into this hideous ordeal than exists for combining the athletic competitions every four years.

Institutional memories no longer exist for fighting ferocious, shrewd enemies such as Germans, Japanese, Chinese, and North Vietnamese, who utilized a full array of modern weapons. As this tragedy unfolds remember the quote that, “Men sleep peacefully in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf”.

So you say you’re Special Forces
And you wear a green beret
Had you been with us at Crow’s Foot
You wouldn’t be with us today

Interesting article. I do have a few questions. The writer states, "the Q-course today is markedly, measurably easier to skate through (I do not use that term lightly) than ever before. As long as one shows up for training, there is virtually no way to fail this training". But the statistics show "in 2017, 541 soldiers have completed the Green Beret qualification course out of more than 2,000 who sought to be selected for the program." That is a 75% failure rate, not "skating" through.

But something, obviously, has changed over the long years. According to the song (which wasn't official policy), only 3% of candidates would pass the course.

Yep, they shut down training at SWCS this afternoon so the GB instructors could meet with the General. The High Command is on a witch hunt to nail the person who wrote the letter.

FWIW, I’ve watched the standards change from 1987. They’ve gone from quality to quantity; IMO, because if they don’t keep the enlisted slots filled, they lose officer slots.

Career over country is the mantra of senior officers who have allowed the military to be destroyed by political correctness. And Trump and his highly advertised Sec Def Mattis have not lifted a finger to clean out this swamp. Not one step has been taken.
