Dear Mr. Robinson and Fellow Freepers,
Moderating for FR may indeed be a "thankless" job, and in general I appreciate the job they've done over the years, but...
In recent days I have been suspended twice -- once for posting to a certain well-known Freeper who has obviously been given preferential treatment by FR's Moderators; another for supposedly mentioning that same "elite" Freeper in posts to others.
I'm not the only one this particular complaining Freeper has demanded he NOT be posted to -- though he often posts long rambling controversial rants and vanities about which he expects and savors contentious dissent and battles.
Even when this elite poster's "demands" of not being posted to directly were aquiesced, I was admonished and suspended by a certain Moderator for the nebulous and relative term "personal attacks" -- something this particular poster often engages others in...WITH IMPUNITY. Moreover, the admonishments received from these specific Mods were not only unnecessarily personal, but condescending in tone as well.
I'm no angel at times, but certainly have never squawked to the Mods for "protection." Any attempt at requesting an answer from FR's Moderator for an explanation of policies fell on deaf ears.
If we must walk on eggshells at Free Republic to avoid "offending" favored Freepers or their status as a "protected class," or subject matter that opposes President Bush's policies, then this website is diametrically opposed to what it supposedly espouses -- the tenets of conservatism.
This kind of over-officiousness, arrogance, and selective censorship by FR's Moderators and overt elitism is unacceptable....
Perhaps their selective admonishments have something to do with Freepers who have open disagreements with those who refer to themselves as "Bush-Bots." OR my passionate opposition over the President's immigration policies. However it IS clear some of Free Republic's Moderators over-zealously use their authority to ZOT, delete, suspend, or ban to the detriment of the open exchange of the freedom to express opinion at FR.
If we must walk on eggshells at Free Republic to avoid "offending" favored Freepers, or their status as a "protected class" on subject matter that opposes President Bush's policies, then this website is diametrically opposed to what it supposedly espouses -- the tenets of conservatism.
I want to thank the many, many Freepers for their prayers, encouragement and well-wishes back in October for my regaining my health -- God bless you all -- I'll never forget you; the sage wisdom and advice of Freepers and friends over the years; the intelligence, integrity, courage and love for our Republic; the exchange of ideas; and of course the one-of-a-kind humor.
Again, it was an honor to participate and bond with you all -- even those with whom I've disagreed. Good luck, and keep up the vociferous fight for THE truth and the conservatism of our Founders without compromise.
Farewell, FRiends...
There are real losers everywhere and we all get weary... You, better than anyone else in the room right now, should know that they can't be allowed to win. I think those of us reading know who's right between the two.
You're right. The President does advance some conservative goals when he's not busy advancing other more liberal and globalist goals. His track record is quite spotty, however, and I will criticize him when he deserves it as I've praised him on the points where he deserves praise.
I'm not going to defend McCain.......he's another story
Truth be told. You can't say that about McCain either. He's pro-life and pro-war on terror among other things. He, at some levels, does help (reluctantly) conservative causes.
But, both do deserve criticism where they've earned it. This very post from you serves to reinforce the perception some have of you that Bush can do no wrong but others can. You defended Bush when I (inadvertantly) stated that he didn't represent conservatism "at any level" (I missed the last 3 words when I posted) but at the same time you're ready to ignore anything conservative that McCain may have (mistakenly) done and you're ready to agree that he's doesn't represent conservatism "at any level." That is hypocrisy, my friend, and it bespeaks an almost worshipful attitude towards the President. That isn't a healthy attitude to possess, especially on a political forum sworn to advancing conservatism and not just a specific party or personality.
How do you breathe with your head down there in the sand like that? You got a snorkle or something?
Have a great Easter with your son :~D
Yep. That was a classic. But I think I remember getting the lowdown on that whole thing.
Only in your imagination, Spiffy. I don't really care about your 'perception.' I function in the real world, not a pretend one.
As for McCain, I don't care much about him one way or the other because he's not now, nor ever will be President, therefore is irrelevant to me.
He obviously is conservative in a few areas, but I don't see people out there screaming for his head, and that's what this discussion is about..........or at least was until you oddly brought McCain into it.
Breathing is just fine here :~D
This one isn't a big issue for me. I'm glad for that, or I'd be as ticked off as ohioWfan, and what would that have gained me? :~D
The requested document does not exist on this server.
Okay
Ticked off at FReepers angry at the noisy criminals marching in our streets or ticked of at the hordes of invaders themselves?
But the venomous nastiness I have endured for that recently makes me wonder if it's all worth it.
I'll be OK...I just get tired of it. And I just get tired in general. It's somewhat disappointing and I've never had much patience for stupidity coupled with arrogance which has become rampant 'round here.
I agree that Jim Rob is a great guy and the core group is wonderful. I just wish all of the cockroaches in here would go away.
Anybody got a giant can of Raid?
In Before The Zot.
Yes.
Last time I tried that I just gunked up my screen. It doesn't work over the internet.
By the way, did you answer the mod's ping yet?
It was exactly two years ago that he came home from Iraq, and the Maundy Thursday service at church was the first time our entire family was together since he was deployed.
It was a glorious time! Life IS good! :)
"Question..... Why do you think the issue will fade?"
OWF, I think what's happened is emotional issues like Miers and the SC, the Dubai Port Deal, and finally the defiant marching of Illegals in America's streets shoved many folks over the edge. We feel betrayed.
The fall-guy here of course has been the President who has boxed himself in without a garnering any real consensus on ANY of these three issues, thereby angering many conservatives.
Personally, I believe FR and the mood of conservatives will grow MORE contentious, while unfortunately dividing the GOP.
I just want to reinforce how much I do appreciate your speaking out truthfully in spite of the attacks on you personally.
You are brave in more ways than one, Allegra!
A third opus? Okay, I think we get the message now.
See, and here's the problem. A lot of you folks have absolutely no problem calling folks "Bushbots" and "Pubbie worshippers," but you scream bloody murder if someone calls you a "Bush hater." Physician, heal thyself.
The Dubai Port Deal was a GOOD deal.....my son in International Relations and Security (and a VERY conservative man) thought the Republican party was NUTS for going along with the RAT hysteria about that. No betrayal there either.
As for immigration, how can a man BETRAY you when he does exactly what he has always said he would do. He is doing what he thinks is right. We can disagree (and we DO), but the word 'betrayal' is completely inappropriate.
(Now aren't you glad you're still around here? :)
