Lord,

Keep our Troops forever in Your care

Give them victory over the enemy...

Grant them a safe and swift return...

Bless those who mourn the lost.
.

FReepers from the Foxhole join in prayer
for all those serving their country at this time.

...................................................................................... ...........................................

U.S. Military History, Current Events and Veterans Issues

Where Duty, Honor and Country
are acknowledged, affirmed and commemorated.

Our Mission:

The FReeper Foxhole is dedicated to Veterans of our Nation's military forces and to others who are affected in their relationships with Veterans.

In the FReeper Foxhole, Veterans or their family members should feel free to address their specific circumstances or whatever issues concern them in an atmosphere of peace, understanding, brotherhood and support.

The FReeper Foxhole hopes to share with it's readers an open forum where we can learn about and discuss military history, military news and other topics of concern or interest to our readers be they Veteran's, Current Duty or anyone interested in what we have to offer.

If the Foxhole makes someone appreciate, even a little, what others have sacrificed for us, then it has accomplished one of it's missions.

We hope the Foxhole in some small way helps us to remember and honor those who came before us.

DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY EMBLEM

DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY EMBLEM

Army Seal

Background:

Prior to the establishment of the Department of the Army Emblem, there was no official display item to identify the Army. The Army seal had traditionally been used to authenticate documents only and was not authorized for display. In recognizing the need to provide a display item, The Secretary of the Army approved the emblem design as the official emblem to represent the Army on 29 January 1974.

Description: The Army emblem is derived from the Army seal and differs from the seal in several respects:

a. The emblem is displayed in color while the seal is not.

b. The emblem includes the inscription "Department of the Army" instead of the seal inscription "War Office".

c. On the emblem, the American flag is on its own right (observers left) to reflect the current custom for display of flags. The Army flag pattern has been added to the other flag.

d. The Roman numerals "MDCCLXXVIII" which indicate the date the Army seal was adopted, were replaced with the date "1775" to reflect the date the Army was established.

Symbolism:The symbolism for the elements of the Army emblem is the same as for the Army seal with the above deviations and additions: The colors of the design elements are those traditionally associated with the ideals of the United States and of the Army. The flags are in proper colors. Blue is symbolic of loyalty, vigilance, perseverance, and truth. Red denotes courage, zeal, and fortitude. White alludes to deeds worthy of remembrance. Black is indicative of determination and constancy. Gold represents achievement, dignity, and honor.

Current Usage:The reproduction of the Army emblem is authorized in publications and other printed matter of an official or quasi-official nature in Army approved films and in official Army motion pictures or television programs. The design may not be modified in any manner. It may be reproduced in its proper colors, through the use of a one-color line process, or as a line drawing. The use of the Army emblem for any other purposes, including its incorporation in other items for commercial sale, will be only as authorized by The Institute of Heraldry.

Actively seeking volunteers to provide this valuable service to Veterans and their families.

Thanks to quietolong for providing this link.

We here at Blue Stars For A Safe Return are working hard to honor all of our military, past and present, and their families. Inlcuding the veterans, and POW/MIA's. I feel that not enough is done to recognize the past efforts of the veterans, and remember those who have never been found.

I realized that our Veterans have no "official" seal, so we created one as part of that recognition. To see what it looks like and the Star that we have dedicated to you, the Veteran, please check out our site.

No Change

Read:
Romans 4:1-12

Having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. —Romans 5:1

Bible In One Year: Jeremiah 6-8

cover All around us, life is changing at a dizzying pace. Even in the church, change is happening so fast that it can be tough to keep up.

For example, to communicate more effectively with people, Christians have changed the way "church" is done. Many believers have become accustomed to churches without pews, sanctuaries without hymnbooks, and message outlines and songs projected onto large screens.

Christians have also recognized the need to change their methods of reaching out to non-Christians with the gospel of Jesus. Churches use sports leagues to bring the gospel to people in their neighborhood. They open up food pantries to reach out to the disadvantaged. They hold special group meetings for people dealing with grief or addictions.

Not everything is changing, however. Dr. M. R. De Haan wrote in the first edition of Our Daily Bread in 1956: "If there is one thing Paul insisted upon, it is that works have nothing to do with obtaining or retaining our salvation. We are justified by faith, and faith alone" (Romans 4:5; 5:1).

Modes and methods of worship may change. But salvation is through faith in Jesus alone. That will never change—ever. —Dave Branon

Unchanging is the Word of God—
Salvation is by grace
Through faith alone in Christ who died
In every sinner's place. —Hess

In a world of constant change, you can trust God's unchanging Word.

Holidays for teddy bears

Holidays for teddy bears are being offered by a German travel agent.

Christopher Boehm and Elke Verheugen promise "The holiday of a teddy's lifetime with a host of activities to tempt teddy away from the loving arms of his owner for a week or two."

As well as his own room in a luxury Munich flat teddy organiser Boehm said: "Often, bears or other stuffed toys have gone through a lot and a vacation is a great opportunity for the real man's best friend to see something different for a change."

The teddies spend an action packed week sightseeing, playing games and visiting a traditional teddy bears picnic, followed by a visit to a Munich beer house.

Teddy owners can also choose special activities to suit the nature of their faithful friend. Fishing, golfing, painting, and even bungee jumping and paragliding are offered, all with pictures teddy can take home to his loving owner.

Prices range from 68 pounds for locals to 100 pounds for international teddies.

Boehm says business is booming he said: "We host a tour group of up to a dozen teddies around every four weeks. The people love this idea.

Don't forget the cap of Liberty center under "This We'll Defend".
Don't recall offhand the details about it, had heard once aupona time the story behind it, but it's on the emblem for a reason.

It's a great seal for a great branch of our military. However, it's followed by a lame description. Incomplete answers are not a option in the Foxhole.

What is the gold figure in the middle and what does it represent? What are the three black staffs coming out of the top of the gold figure and what do they represent? What is that red knit cap perched atop the middle black staff and what does it represent?

The student is waiting . . . ;^)

Morning all. :-)

Over hill, over dale
As we hit the dusty trail,
And those caissons go rolling along.
In and out, hear them shout,
Counter march and right about,
And those caissons go rolling along.

Then it's hi! hi! hee!
In the field artillery,
Shout out your numbers loud and strong,
For where e'er you go,
You will always know
That those caissons go rolling along.

In the storm, in the night,
Action left or action right
See those caissons go rolling along
Limber front, limber rear,
Prepare to mount your cannoneer
And those caissons go rolling along.

Then it's hi! hi! hee!
In the field artillery,
Shout out your numbers loud and strong,
For where e'er you go,
You will always know
That those caissons go rolling along.

Was it high, was it low,
Where the hell did that one go?
As those caissons go rolling along
Was it left, was it right,
Now we won't get home tonight
And those caissons go rolling along.

Then it's hi! hi! hee!
In the field artillery,
Shout out your numbers loud and strong,
For where e'er you go,
You will always know
That those caissons go rolling along.
