Our Mission: The FReeper Foxhole is dedicated to Veterans of our Nation's military forces and to others who are affected in their relationships with Veterans. In the FReeper Foxhole, Veterans or their family members should feel free to address their specific circumstances or whatever issues concern them in an atmosphere of peace, understanding, brotherhood and support. The FReeper Foxhole hopes to share with it's readers an open forum where we can learn about and discuss military history, military news and other topics of concern or interest to our readers be they Veteran's, Current Duty or anyone interested in what we have to offer. If the Foxhole makes someone appreciate, even a little, what others have sacrificed for us, then it has accomplished one of it's missions. We hope the Foxhole in some small way helps us to remember and honor those who came before us.

And a very pleasant good morning to everyone at the Freeper Foxhole.

"You don't want to interview me for your television program," the man told me. "You need someone who is young and photogenic, and I'm neither." I replied that we indeed wanted him because he had known C. S. Lewis, the noted author and the subject of our documentary. "Sir," I said, "when it comes to telling the story of a person's life, there is no substitute for an eyewitness."
As Christians, we often refer to sharing our faith in Christ as "witnessing" or "giving our testimony." It's an accurate concept taken directly from the Bible. John, a companion and disciple of Jesus, wrote: "We have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to usthat which we have seen and heard we declare to you" (1 John 1:2-3).
If you know Jesus as your Savior and have experienced His love, grace, and forgiveness, you can tell someone else about Him. Youth, beauty, and theological training are not required. Reality and enthusiasm are more valuable than a training course in how to share your faith.
When it comes to telling someone the wonderful story of how Jesus Christ can transform a person's life, there is no substitute for a firsthand witness like you. David McCasland

Good morning ALL, we have threatening rain today, cooler temps and I've already been to Wal-Mart to buy Rocket's dog food.
Hope SAM is feeling better today.
We have some heavy weather moving into the Kansas City area this morninng. Just what we need nore rain :-(
From my limited reading of the times it would have been somewhat out of character for Santa Ana to have been executed. While not an exact parallel, one only has to look at some of the letters between the Federal and Confederate Generals during the War Between the States regarding surrendering of armies, etc.
I do not know if Sam Houston would have fit the Jacksonian mold or not of fight your enemies with all you have and treat them in defeat with generosity but I suspect that would have been the case.
Finally a Saturday funnie to help folks get into the weekend.

Morning Snippy.
Using 20-20 hindsight, my answer would be "no". First he signed over what became Texas to save his butt and then later because of his handling of the Army during the Mexican American War, ended up losing the southwest, which became California, New Mexico, etc to save his butt again.
Seems like we got almost all of the West from Napoleons. One needed the money and the other needed to save himself. In the long run a very good deal.
Saying that, if I was just a peon in Houston's Army, I would have put the rope around his neck myself just out of revenge for the Alamo and Goliad.
Interesting "what if". Would we have ended up going to war with Mexico if someone other than Santa Ana was in charge at the time?
Morning Feather
Morning E.G.C.
Looks like the rain is gonna be back for the weekend. :-(
Morning Mayor.
Morning Aeronaut.
Hi Sam... So glad to have my computer back..
All new, lost hard drive and had to redo everything.
