2000 The Electoral College cast its ballots, with President-elect Bush receiving the expected 271; Al Gore, however, received 266, one fewer than expected, because of a District of Columbia Democrat who left her ballot blank to protest the district's lack of representation in Congress.

The day I stopped yelling at the television and took my Bush/Cheney sign down.

There were so many night battles at Guadalcanal, I'm not sure if this is the same one either, I think this was the only major one that Admiral Mikawa was involved in though.

I wonder if that was the same camp that Pappy Boyington was in? I seem to recall him telling about his camp being discovered by a B-29.

Morning demlosers.

The best that can be said was that the transports survived. Based on the intelligence Mikawa had at the time his decision to withdraw was probably correct, but the "prize" of getting the transports should have been worth the risk to his forces.

ARRRGH. Now if I could only get my Automatic Live Update to work!!! I've tried everything that Symantec suggests and it still only works if I run the job manually.

According to his Boyington's biography he was at Camp Ofuna near Yokahama. Not sure how close Yakohama is to Hiroshima. Any help there Gator Navy?

Thanks Sam. Capt Bode was the final casualty of this tragic engagement, he ultimately committed suicide.

I think this is the one then.
That's the pic of her after repairs?
Battle was 8/9/42, and the overhaul pic was 20dec1942?

Morning skeeter.

Captain Bode was criticised for not leading the Southern force when Crutchley departed in Australia to meet with Turner, and also for not warning the Northern cruisers, he was given a shore job, and later commited suicide by shooting himself.

It's sad to think that someone can be driven to suicide, what demons he had to possess

Here she is in 1934, the overhaul was to repair damage she got at Savo.
