Roger Roth, Wisconsin Assemblyman and Candidate for Congress, Wisconsins 8th District, had this observation about the U.S. Constitution:
The Constitution is a wonderful document. Its a great piece of paper thats got a lot of words on it. But you know, at the end of the day, its just a piece of paper thats got a lot of words on it. And we need to elect representatives that believe in that.
Its not so much ... I asked a class of, of, uh, you know, I go around to my local schools and talk to fourth, fifth, sixth graders, and I ask them, what makes America great? And they said, Oh, we have a Constitution. Its a flexible document And I said, Okay, yeah, thats true.

Now, I would grant you that the Constitution is only as strong as the law and the will of the people who back it up. But “just words on paper”? AYFKM?

“...at the end of the day, its just a piece of paper...”
.
Seems to be the general sentiment of government.
He’s a Republican, currently in the Wisconsin Assembly, and is one of the Old Gard’s favorites. His uncle is a former Congressman.
Obviously was not attending to candidate obama-- "The Constitution-- Just Words?"
BULLSHIT!!*
How stupid do these progressives think we are?
Most grownups and all "progressives" have no clue what "living document" means...
>>Oh, we have a Constitution. Its a flexible document
>
>THE HELL IT IS!
That it recognizes and includes an amending-procedure actually DOES make it a ‘flexible document,’ definitionally speaking.
...however, he probably was using the term ‘flexible’ to refer how our political-caste ‘interprets’ the document.
Yes, that is basically what this puffed-up moron said, without even realizing it, most likely.
I think we all know how he meant it.
That it recognizes and includes an amending-procedure actually DOES make it a flexible document, definitionally speaking.
Agreed.
I had never heard of this guy before now. I checked his campaign site and he has all the terminology down to make him sound like a conservative. What’s the deal with that?
Way to get out the word WI-GOP...nice job /sarc
Yep, thats how I feel
The idea that free people could flourish on their own accomplishments which in turn would create a great and strong nation - ONE THAT DIDN'T NEEDED TOTAL GOVERNMENT CONTROL.
The vision the forefathers held was nothing short of amazing - they achieved that vision based on real experience, real blood and real committment not from some theory they read in a second hand college text book.
It is long past the time for the Tea Party to register as a political party in every state. The Republicans, Democrats, and Independents who see this kind of nonsense are desperately looking for alternatives. If every R, D, and I started giving their donations to the Tea party, it would foster a viable third party while at the same time de-funding the R and D parties.
Well, no.
Some animals are more equal than others. Used to be pigs, but now they are cockroaches and rattlesnakes.
You got to be a member of Congress.
