At Least Say SOMETHING!

Posted on 06/16/2009 2:53:33 AM PDT by Zanton

With the fate of 70 million desperate, miserable, and mostly-enslaved Iranians hanging in the balance, now is the time for Barack Obama, Gordon Brown, Nicolas Sarkozy, Angela Merkel, and others to declare that freedom is an absolute, undeniable, and irrevocable birthright of man. They need to come out unambiguously on the side of the Iranian people and against the Iranian dictators.

These Free World leaders -- if they are leaders, and if they do champion freedom -- should loudly and pointedly make the case that all individuals, everywhere on earth, have an utter and untouchable right to liberty and justice. Individual rights, they should note, are sacred and can never be taken away by any state. Any oddball fanatics, medieval theocrats, and reclusive dictators who say otherwise are nothing more than criminals, tyrants, traitors, and loathsome depraved usurpers who richly deserve to be overthrown and executed.

Even if America, Britain, France, and Germany today manifestly refuse to lift a military finger -- and take out the highly-vulnerable, hated, and evil Iranian autocrats -- at the very least these nations and their leaders should openly and vigorously declare their solidarity with the hideously suffering Iranian people. And they should demand that the monsters in charge of Iran at least adhere to the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

This is a minimal statement of the rights of man, and should not be hard to follow. It's also a statement of principles to which the Iranian dictatorship is morally and legally bound. If nothing else, the heads of state of the relatively liberal Western nations need to break their current cowardly and depraved silence, and emphatically make clear their support -- at least verbally and morally -- for today's brave and heroic Iranian freedom-fighters.

The perfect opportunity for a conservative Republican to step into the leadership void.

Don’t you know, you stupid and hateful Neocon? It’s all about HOPE and CHANGE now!
More Theocracy and Ahmadinejad = HOPE and CHANGE!
Kowtowing to illegitimate dictators = HOPE and CHANGE!

You can spread HOPE and CHANGE in the world by doing something so stupid and ignorant as championing hope and change in the world. Shows what you stupid Repugnacons know!

Better to remain silent and have people think you are stupid than to speak and confirm their beliefs.

"The perfect opportunity for a conservative Republican to step into the leadership void."

But not like George Bush. He never did a thing to nuclear bomb acquiring Iran and North Korea. And he kissed the ass of every evil Muslim dictatorship he could find, such as Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. And he praised evil Islam to the sky: a great ideology, and religion of peace, which was sadly hijacked, etc.

A perfect opportunity for a ferocious classical liberal! :-)

Muslimboy Hussein doesn’t believe that himself! Why would you expect that he’d declare it?

Inwardly, he’s happy that Nutjob “won”. He’d crush the freedom right out of any group of people (including US) if it meant power for him.

Sorry, I don’t hate on Bush. We could play the “imperfect” game with any democrat or republican—yes, ANY Republican—and this place is way too hard on Bush. He was a very good president in many ways, and will be regarded kindly by objective historians. And I’m really sick of the kneejerk Bush-bashing around here, so...no thanks.

"Fine when you get PROOF the Election was rigged show it to the World and then deal with it. Otherwise as THE ONE says we can't impose our values anywhere."

I don't need proof. I'm NOT a democrat. I'm a LIBERTARIAN. That means I favor individual liberty whether the voting or non-voting majority agrees with it or not! If I want their opinion on individual liberty I'll BEAT it out of them! ;-)

And NO-ONE is allowed to impose the "value" of tyranny on another. But EVERYONE is allowed to take freedom and justice and "shove it down their throats."

Think about it.

Bush was Big Government vermin. Clinton was far more libertarian. Bush was an utter traitor and anti-freedom fanatic that DEVASTATED America.

I don’t EXPECT Obama to “declare that freedom is an absolute, undeniable, and irrevocable birthright of man.” But I HOPE he does! :-)

The election was rigged. Khorrubi got 1% or so in his home province, compared with (IIRC) an average of over 40% in the last two elections.

Western leaders should immediately denounce the illegitimate government of Iran.

Get real, Sarkozy might someday cave in and admit it but Bozo and the other two will not, especially Bozo. He is working tirelessly in taking our freedom away, why would he want to bestow freedom on some other country? He has already made his stand on Iran clear: He is for what ever happens to his advantage and he will wait and see! Voting present once again.

Clinton Libertarian? Been drinking already this morning? The only thing that kept Clinton from going bat sh** wild when he was President was the taking back of congress by the Republicans during his first year in office. As for Bush being big government, he was a little, but he was nothing compared to the Clintons and Bozo makes Clinton look like a boy scout. I believe I hear your friends at DU calling you.

You’re right. All these Free World (sic) “leaders” are sanctioning evil and Iranian tyranny right and left. Obama can’t WAIT to “engage” with the dictators. Sick, sick, sick. :-(
