Alabama Republican Assembly Endorses Ron Paul for President

The Alabama Republican Assembly (ALRA) has announced its endorsement of Texas Republican Congressman Ron Paul for President.

The ALRA is an affiliate of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies (NFRA), known as the Republican Wing of the Republican Party. Ronald Reagan once referred to the NFRA as "the conscience of the Republican Party."

"We congratulate Ron Paul on winning the ALRA endorsement," said Elaine Little, Chairman of the Alabama Republican Assembly's endorsing convention. "It's evident that the overwhelming majority of delegates determined that Congressman Paul best represents the Republican platform and the conservative values of limited government and personal freedom."

"Ron Paul has clearly excited many new people and energized them to get involved in the political process. The Republican Party should be grateful for all the 'new blood' coming in as a result of Congressman Paul's message of freedom and returning to the Constitution," said Tom Davis, Vice President of the ALRA and delegate to the endorsing convention.

The NFRA was founded in 1997 to promote conservative values and principles in the Republican Party.

The ALRA hosted a corresponding straw poll that was open to the public while the endorsing convention was taking place. The winner of the straw poll, with 81 percent of total votes cast, was Ron Paul, with Mike Huckabee coming in second with 13 percent and Mitt Romney in third with 6 percent.

Congressman Paul has won more straw polls than any other candidate. For a running total of Dr. Paul's straw poll results visit: www.ronpaul2008.com/straw-poll-results/.

I hope they didn’t fall for an inaccurate piece like they did the VFW endorsement that really ‘blewback’ in their face.

You don't like Paul. Why wouldn't you hope for something embarrassing to happen to his campaign?

What specific ideas of Paul’s do you consider crazy?

Is declaring victory and leaving several years after you’ve won a war surrendering?

I never did get that “left wing” business.

Someone needs to explain that in detail, using arguments.

My favorite is that all of Paul's supporters are left-wing moonbats, troofers, and white supremacists. Yet, if Paul goes third-party, then he's another Ross Perot splitting the GOP vote. How, if his supporters are leftists?

Exactly.

"..but RP is not a conservative."

Would you know a conservative?

If not Ron Paul, then who?

Why use arguments when insults are all that is now necessary on FR.

The Paul bashers cannot distinguish between liberals and conservatives, so why would anyone expect them to formulate a coherent argument?

“Better an endorsement for Ron Paul than an endorsement for John McAztlan.....”

A vote for Paul is a vote for McCain.

I would not consider a cut and run person a conservative. I would not consider a person who refuses to believe and act on the fact the US has enemies a conservative. I would not consider someone who believes a few submarines is a national defense strategy.

Are his economic proposals conservative, mostly, although I think he is delusional in the application of some aspects.

...a man with a lot of crazy ideas that have no hope of actually being enacted.

So in your opinion we just abandon the Constitution and vote liberal-lite with the rest of the GOP?

(sarc)Yeah... that'll work out great. (/sarc)

A few submarines, aircraft carriers, nukes, and 320 million personally armed free citizens.

Forgot that last part didn't you...

As for markets... Free market capitalism is what made this Country the economic powerhouse that is was. Getting back to economic basics will go a long way to fixing what's currently wrong before we have to endure another big crash.

Your judgment is obviously better than theirs.

Perhaps you should travel down there and straighten them out.

Cute but no cigar.
RP never added what you added, He said all we need is a few submarines off the coasts and we would be left alone.

Besides 320 million armed citizens, what babies carrying guns?

It goes to my point that people repeat what they think RP has said and not what he actually has said.

Nukes and an armed citizenry that out numbers any Army in the entire world isn't a deterrent from a defensive standpoint?

I assume we can then take from your stance that you approve of our Troops, including National guard that should never have been sent over seas to begin with, being stationed in every Country around the Globe playing Globo-cop? If not, why not? It's the logically extension of your apparent philosophy.

"..a man with a lot of crazy ideas.."

Like reigning in the size of government according to the Constitution?

"Crazy" like that?

"..that have no hope of actually being enacted.."

Lots easier if you elect a Constitutionalist to Congress. So how's about it, Polonius? Care to give us a hand?

I do not want the enemy on the shores of the US - period.

It appears that you are willing to fight them here, fine, I disagree with that point of view.

Well.. no. But thanks for running around the world kicking every hornets nest there is. I'm sure that'll win us a lot of friends.

You want us to be a "pre-emptive"/"aggressor" Nation. Got it. Who should we go to war with next? Iran? North Korea? China? Maybe something closer to home? How about Venezuela? After all, if you are just going to play Globo-Cop, you may as well go whole hog right?
