COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul's supporters raised over $6 million Sunday to boost the 10-term Texas congressman's campaign for the White House.
Called a "Money Bomb," the goal was to raise as much money as possible on the Internet in one day. The campaign's previous fundraiser brought in $4.2 million.
At midnight EST, donations were over $6 million, according to the campaign Web site. Those donations are processed credit card receipts, said Paul campaign spokesman Jesse Benton. Benton said the median donation is about $50 in the fundraiser, which was the idea of Paul supporters who are not officially connected to the campaign.
Trevor Lyman, a Paul supporter who is traveling the country following the Ron Paul blimp, said the date of the fundraiser coincides with the 234th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.
The Ron Paul blimp is an aerial billboard emblazoned on one side with "Who is Ron Paul? Google Ron Paul." The other side reads "Ron Paul Revolution." The blimp, another grass-roots effort, was in Chester, S.C., on Sunday, and organizers hope to get it to New Hampshire before the Jan. 8 primary there.
I will also look for the event on YT in the next few days. :-)
Just saw this one of RP celebrating the Tea Party.
Careful, it may cause irritation to some viewers.

We will find Bin Laden when they find the right cave and dig up his remains but as long as he is not sending us videos of himself, who cares?
For my curiousity, oh mind-reader, why am I scared of a Ron Paul presidency?
Hey, thanks buddy. I’ll certainly be trying for SOY.
As for the Military supporters for Ron Paul, I was talking about an article I saw a few months ago at Politico. I don’t support or not support Ron Paul, I’m waiting to see how things work out before I start dealing out the cash. I just hope it’s not the Huckster! I’d prefer Mr. paul over him or Mitt. As for my friends in NY, they’re all registered dems (go figure).
Haha... That was great, thanks for posting the link.
Yes, I was around when Perot hit the scene; however I voted for Dole. It was the last time I threw away my vote by voting for the lesser of two evils, both of whom were put up by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).
Ron Paul’s following however is not a ruckus. The MeetUp group I attend has over 400+ members now and continues to grow. It’s amazing to see how many are disaffected Republicans who left the party, independents, democrats and others who have registered Republican so that they can vote for Ron Paul in the primaries.
During the march of 1,000 from Reed Park in Santa Monica to the Pier, an older gentleman was asked about Ron Paul. The gentleman said that RP didn’t stand a chance of being elected. I remarked, “Have you seen this many people marching for any other candidate?” He was silent.
Ross Perot was heralded by Ron Paul for taking things into his own hands and bringing his people back while J. Carter was bumbling and dithering. Perot’s heroic doings were what brought him to national attention and made him a hero. Ron Paul supporters, in their own way, take things into their own hands, e.g., November 5th, December 16th, and the Ron Paul blimp. This is precisely what being an American is all about - being given the freedom to do as you wish.
In the movie “The Alamo,” 1964, with John Wayne (great American patriot) as Davy Crocket, this statement was made about the word Republic:
“Republic. I like the sound of the word. It means people can live free, talk free, go or come, buy or sell, be drunk or sober, however they choose. Some words give you a feeling. Republic is one of those words that make me tight in the throat. Same tightness a man gets when his baby takes his first step or his first baby shaves or makes his first sound like a man. Some words can give you a feeling that make your heart warm. Repulic is one of those words.”
Emblazen those words on your heart, my friend, for those are the feelings of Ron Paul supporters.
his “staff/campaign” did nothing. The tea party was organized by the grassroots, all they did was kick back and watch the money flow in.
Good response! Thank you for joining and posting.
I want to know what constitutes decency, too.
Ron Paul, M.D., supports marriage (has been married over 50 years, has 5 children, 18 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild) and has a bill in the house entitled the “Sanctity of Life Act.” This bill, if passed, would declare that life begins at the moment of conception. In addition, it would cut out ALL federal funds for any organization that promotes abortions (take heed Planned Parenthood and NARAL) and prevents ANY court from ruling otherwise.
God bless Dr. Paul!
With all due respect to Trevor. He put up a one page web site that took about 1 hour of his time. The credit goes to the thousands and thousands of contributors that made the money bomb a success. I took part in the thread that spawned the tea party site, and so did several other people.
To Trevor’s credit, he points the same thing out whenever asked.
What are some of those incentives to hit us? Any specifics?
based on what exactly? he’s pulling democratic voters, which is seen as a flaw, oh and he doesnt have a chance against democrats, which is seen as a flaw.
cognative dissonance much?
I think you heard it wrong...
it's 25K nude owners...
nothing to do with contributions.
I think he’s taking a dirt nap as well.
you must mean national offense, no candidate is talking about national defense except for Paul.
**queue the “best defense is a strong offense crowd”
Enough of the RonPaul Bullspit. He won’t get the nomination and he is going to lose his Congressional seat, this guy is a moron. You may as well be posting for Dennis Kucinich, they are one in the same and both have as much chance of being President as I do.
