COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul's supporters raised over $6 million Sunday to boost the 10-term Texas congressman's campaign for the White House.
Called a "Money Bomb," the goal was to raise as much money as possible on the Internet in one day. The campaign's previous fundraiser brought in $4.2 million.
At midnight EST, donations were over $6 million, according to the campaign Web site. Those donations are processed credit card receipts, said Paul campaign spokesman Jesse Benton. Benton said the median donation is about $50 in the fundraiser, which was the idea of Paul supporters who are not officially connected to the campaign.
Trevor Lyman, a Paul supporter who is traveling the country following the Ron Paul blimp, said the date of the fundraiser coincides with the 234th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.
The Ron Paul blimp is an aerial billboard emblazoned on one side with "Who is Ron Paul? Google Ron Paul." The other side reads "Ron Paul Revolution." The blimp, another grass-roots effort, was in Chester, S.C., on Sunday, and organizers hope to get it to New Hampshire before the Jan. 8 primary there.
weird.
Pauls support is minimal in every poll ever published, and the high results in web polls are due to PRs poll-bots. Really makes me wonder where all the money coming in through the “web donations” is coming from. Might be interesting if the originating source for the funding was made public.
I remember when Howard Dean did this. And when John McCain did it in 2000.
Boy, I wonder what happened to those guys????
Of the 3 Congressmen who I like (Tancredo, Hunter, and Paul) it seems Paul has the best chance to win. He has also shown he can draw support from independents, new voters, and dems so he would stomp all over Hillary
“Might be interesting if the originating source for the funding was made public.”
It is.
Gee, and I just got an email from Duncan Hunter hoping to raise $25,000 in 24 hours.
Guess Duncan is setting his sights a little low..... Or is it that he is not planning on retiring on his campaign donations, and Paul is hoping for a big score before he has to retire and/or be locked in a padded cell.
is this the part where we mock and deride him and his following while championing Thompson or Huckabee ?
That’s the power of the internet and offshore PayPal accounts etc.

Nah...
Paul’s good for 1908, not 2008.
He also does well in straw polls. If it was just the online polls vs the telephone polls I would say the telephone polls are the way to go hands down, but when it’s straw polls and fundraising as well I think perhaps it is the telephone polls which are wrong.
December 16, 2007
We are close to making history. In November, we mentioned that the all-time, single-day primary fundraising record is John Kerry’s $5.7 million in 2004. At this hour, Ron Paul stands at $5.4 million.
Won’t you help Ron Paul make history?
If you are considering donating, please help us by making your donation before midnight EST tonight. And if you have donated already, won’t you help us by contributing again? https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate
By the way, we are closing in on 25,000 first-time donors today. That’s unbelievable! Help us hit this mark too by telling your friends about this historic day!

Ron Paul 2008
It is. You can go on to his website and see how many individuals people have donated this quarter, how many new doners there are this week, and there is a continuing scroll of the names of various doners. Unlike the other campaigns, his is very transparent with this information. I’m sorry if his large amount of support doesn’t fit in with reality as defined by the dinosaur media’s polls (the same ones freepers generally disparage otherwise).
Wow, 6MM in one day, did you guys hear/read about this?
Crazy.
Boy, I wonder what happened to those guys????
You have a bad memory. Neither of those guys ever raised this much in a single day. Fred hasn't even come close. Huckabee? You got to be kidding. Hunter? Hunter who?

haha...yeah, it’s a crazy world. Good men like Duncan are ignored, and quitters get the podium.
“Wont you help Ron Paul make history?”
No.
After he wins in New Hampshire, you will eat those words.
A little bird told me.
The little bird looked a lot like my credit card.
Paul has no chance of ever getting the republican nomination. I have a funny feeling I know where these money bombs are coming from. Hint: What segment of our population DESPERATELY wants the patriot act repealed, a withdrawal from Iraq, and all aid to Israel cut off?
