Polls now show Ron Paul passing Thompson in New Hampshire and tied with McCain in Iowa
USA Daily ^ | 11-14-2007 | Hugo Mann

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul is forcing polls to adjust and quickly. A poll released Tuesday by CBS and NY Times shows Paul at 8% in New Hampshire ahead of Fred Thompson and tied with McCain in Iowa.

This follows polls released by the Boston Globe in association with the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, and the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion that also showed Ron Paul passing Fred Thompson in New Hampshire.

“The polls confirm what we already know: Congressman Paul is catching on in the early primary states,” said Paul campaign spokesman Jesse Benton. “His unifying message of freedom, peace, and prosperity is resonating strongly with voters in Iowa and New Hampshire, and we’re rapidly gaining support nationwide.”

The CBS-New York Times poll was conducted November 2-12. On November 5, the Ron Paul campaign brought in a record-breaking $4.2 million online, and an additional $1 million to end the week.

Yesterday John Zogby told Sean Hannity that Ron Paul may embarrass some frontrunners in New Hampshire by getting 15-18% of the vote.

The adjustments by pollsters and pundits polling results regarding Ron Paul raise the issue of whether polls are an inaccurate and lagging indicator of a candidates support. Paul had been sitting at 1-2% for months in media generated polls despite raising considerable funds and drawing large crowds. Paul rallied a crowd of 5,000 in Philadelphia last weekend.

Fox News and the Iowa GOP have decided to use 5% in Iowa or National polls as a bar to exclude candidates from a presidential debate in early December. Visit the USA Daily Forum to discuss this and other issues.

That could well be : )

Sounds to me like a ploy to install their chosen Golden Boy In A Dress, Rudy Giuliani.

I agree, Hunter is the best conservative and since this is a wide open race, might as well vote for the guy you want.

Here’s what I’ve been posting lately.

Here’s a recent poll showing Hunter at 4%.

Here’s an intrade link to the forum site discussing how Hunter might be gaining traction.

Here’s one showing Fred at 6%, and discussing why.

One thing prediction markets are better at — their only bias is whether someone can make money trading the futures contracts.

Fred has lost ~30 points at Intrade over the last few weeks, looks like it’s stabilizing at ~6%.

I don't know. Here's how I see it:

These ever-earlier primary dates will do two things: effectively freeze out people who aren't rabid political junkies like us from the process (as the last thing they want to pay attention to during the Holiday season is politics and the primaries are a mere week later) and benefiting those who the elite would put upon us, and turn the early primaries themselves into a joke, thus removing whatever advantage they have gained by holding them at such an early date in the first place.

“Ron Paul is the one candidate that will force me to go to a 3rd party or just not vote for president.
This idiot is WORSE than a dumbocrat!”

What an a**hole statement. You’re like a lemming being led to the sea, aren’t you Crucis? Here is a guy with whom you probably agree on more than 90% of the issues, and you say he’s worse than a Dem? When was the last time you agreed with a Dem on 90% of the issues? I don’t get you people, and I never will.
My hope is IF (and I agree that it’s a big IF) he becomes president, people like you don’t try to assassinate the man because you disagree with him. You sound like such haters when it comes to anyone you disagree with at all. Wake up genius; this world is full of people with different ideas than you. Your response to Ron Paul is infantile. You may as well be holding your breath and stamping your feet because you’re not getting your way.
“WWAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!! One of my socialist GOP picks is not getting the press that this guy is getting. WAAHHHHHHH!!!!”
Grow up.

“John Zogby told Sean Hannity that Ron Paul may embarrass some frontrunners in New Hampshire by getting 15-18% of the vote.”

Would have loved to have seen and heard the response Sean gave him. Any time Paul, Hunter or Tancredo have good news, Sean brushes over them and wants to talk about his god, Rudy. Cracks me up.

Sean must want Tony Snow’s job if Rudy gets in.

Wow, you posted your lies here too! Fred is not at 6%, though there is a futures contract at Intrade that sells at about 6.

I’m happy to call attention (more attention) to your lies. It is asked and answered, and even though you’ve been provided with the answers, you keep posting the lies.

Intrade doesn’t say what you claim it says. You’re misrepresenting the meaning of the numbers. That’s your lie.

There seems to be a new derangement syndrome. The over-the-top hate that and venom from the anti-Paul folks is truly amazing to me. And you’re right, they do probably agree with him on 90% or more of the issues, but they just can’t handle the fact that he doesn’t see eye to eye with the hyper-interventionist, nation building, Bushonian foreign policy wing of the GOP. I think there’s more to it than meets the eye. I think there’s a lot of pride involved, and some people don’t want to even consider that they may be wrong or misled.
