Ron Paul Money Bomb Exploding ($1 million @ 9:30am)
USAdaily ^ | 11/5/07 | Larry Fester

Ron Paul's presidential campaign is getting cash infusion today from grass roots activists on the internet. The activists plan to get 100,000 people to donate $100 each, boosting the campaign by 10 million dollars in a day.

Whether the goal of 10 million dollars in a day is achieved remains to be seen. The campaign as of 10 PM Sunday night had risen just under 2.8 million for the quarter.

As of Monday, 9:30 AM Eastern time, Paul’s campaign has risen over a million dollars bringing the total to over 4.1 million for the quarter.

Paul’s campaign raised over 5 million in the third quarter and had over 5 million cash on hand at the start of this quarter.

The one day fund raising push is already a success and it hasn’t shown any signs of losing momentum. Paul’s campaign had nothing to do with the grass roots effort which makes it even more impressive.

Ron Paul voted against the Iraq war and says he will bring the troops home immediately. Paul seeks to eliminate federal income taxes and wants to reform the monetary system by authorizing competing currencies backed by gold and silver.

Paul also voted against the Patriot Act and has been an outspoken defender of the Bill of Rights.

You won’t likely get banned for that. But if you do, as I said in another post, it’s a small price to pay for such a worthy cause.

BTW, I just posted Washington’s Farewell Address in its entirety on FR for all Freepers to read and remember. Washington’s admonitions are particularly salient and relevant right now, and I thought we could all do with a little reminder of what we should be trying to do as a nation in this world.

Did you ever get a response as to why our freeper usmc_izzy got banned/suspended? I am contributing in his honor, but if he is not as he presented himself, I would want to stop that.

As it stands, it just looks like the moderators didn't like an enlisted man voicing his opinions. If that's what it is, that's pretty shameful.

"Ron Paul voted against the Iraq war and says he will bring the troops home immediately."

That's a promise that he'd never be able to keep, and he knows it.

I don’t understand the vehement hostility toward Dr. Paul

Nor I. Maybe Ditter can help us out.

Ditter, can you give any kind of rational explanation for your vehement hostility to Ron Paul?

"The Executive Orders implementing his policies would/could be over ruled by legislation coming out of Congress"

You're not a student of history.

The only executive order ever that was not implemented was JFK's 11110, which ordered the printing and distribution of $40 billion in silver cirtificates in defiance of the Fed, and congress' action earlier in the same day to discontinue printing them. Instead of fighting him legislatively, they simply arranged his funeral.

No response yet... which probably validates your donations in his honor. Wish I had the financial measn join you in donating in his honor. I really thought he wrote a great post there, especially this part:

To be honest with you, the state of politics in America scares me a whole lot more than terrorists. Terrorists can and do threaten our lives, but our own politicians threaten our freedoms more than Osama ever will.

It bears repeating over and over.

If, in fact, he was banned for that post, it reflects very poorly on the state of affairs here at FR.

"Unless and until that money is in an actual account..."

Credit card donations are essentially instantaneous.

eh? How do you figure? Regardless of how one feels about that course of action, one should acknowledge the commander in chief has the power to do it, and I certainly don’t think Paul is bolivating on that issue...

Your guy is the next guy in a presidential primary to be the guy with amazing grassroot support with a strong internet presence

He won't get as far as Dean did. Dean collected something like 30 million before his "scream" speech turned him back into a pumpkin.

the old-timers would be absolutely overjoyed to find the youngsters becomming involved

.The oldtimers weren't too overjoyed with the youngsters in 1972, that's why Richard Nixon creamed McGovern in a landslide. Youngsters tend not to know jacksh*t about the real big wide world out there, and are easily misled by wolves in sheeps' clothing..

They are a typical vote for the lesser of two evils which I’m sick of.

So instead you are going to vote for Paul, who is in your mind... the lesser... of... two... evils. Grow up.

Vehement hostility to Paul? Not to the man himself or to most of his ideas, just to his ideas about the WOT. He is out of touch, we can’t hide from the terrorist who want to kill us. We can’t ignore them and expect them to go away, they aren’t going away.

"The oldtimers weren't too overjoyed with the youngsters in 1972.."

Of course that was two different ideologies in 1972.

Now the youngsters are aligning themselves with the Republican Party, something those 1972 youngsters would never have done.

But we will chase them all away.

I believe you have misunderstood exactly what I was saying. Executive Orders (EO) are issued by the President; laws are promulgated by Congress. Congress can write a law which would over-ride any EO. Plain and simple.

That is what I said. I was not discussing history or any other subject. I was not brining any historical events into this forum ... you did to obfuscate the issue.

No, I didn’t obfuscate the issue, I highlighted it.

The president has far more power than congress. The only means that has ever proven effective in curtailing the power of the presidency has been assasination, not legislation.
