Ron Paul Money Bomb Exploding ($1 million @ 9:30am)

Ron Paul's presidential campaign is getting cash infusion today from grass roots activists on the internet. The activists plan to get 100,000 people to donate $100 each, boosting the campaign by 10 million dollars in a day.

Whether the goal of 10 million dollars in a day is achieved remains to be seen. The campaign as of 10 PM Sunday night had risen just under 2.8 million for the quarter.

As of Monday, 9:30 AM Eastern time, Paul’s campaign has risen over a million dollars bringing the total to over 4.1 million for the quarter.

Paul’s campaign raised over 5 million in the third quarter and had over 5 million cash on hand at the start of this quarter.

The one day fund raising push is already a success and it hasn’t shown any signs of losing momentum. Paul’s campaign had nothing to do with the grass roots effort which makes it even more impressive.

Ron Paul voted against the Iraq war and says he will bring the troops home immediately. Paul seeks to eliminate federal income taxes and wants to reform the monetary system by authorizing competing currencies backed by gold and silver.

Paul also voted against the Patriot Act and has been an outspoken defender of the Bill of Rights.

This could add up to several million more before the end of the day... Another signs of growing grassroots support:

Yup. Without a doubt. Your guy is the next guy in a presidential primary to be the guy with amazing grassroot support with a strong internet presence who will be an also-ran.

Who else would choose Guy Fawkes day to do such a thing? They honor a left-wing, terrorist by staging their biggest fundraising events with signs all over "Remember, Remember, the Fifth of November". One was put up at MIT this morning.

If you look back at DUmmie FUnnies or on DU itself, you'll see they have been wanting to stage something on Guy Fawkes for ages. They finally have done it.

I hope all the Paul supporters here are proud of your Guy Fawkes celebration.

I find this funny. If I see an illegally placed campaign sign in town, it’s always a Ron Paul sign. You see them in medians everywhere. It’s like the Paul campaign can’t get anyone to put up a sign so they just stick them anywhere.

Actually, if you look at the map of where his money is coming from, it’s largely Western states and states like Texas and New Hampshire.

IMHO, Ron Paul doesn't have a chance nationally to capture a sufficient majority to win the White House even in a three-man or two-man and one-woman race. Even if he did his policies would not pass the Congress that would be seated which at the present moment appears to be a majority Democratic Congress ... he could not stop budget increases, IRS Code growth or seat Supreme Court Justices of conservative or libertarian beliefs - since all controlled by Congress. His Executive Orders and management of the Executive Branch, following his stated ideals and beliefs, could well set the public up for a tremendous amount of chaos during and after his term.

Paul does have enough money to be a real spoiler and catapult a liberal into the White House though.

On the non chance that Paul became president both parties would refuse to deal with him rendering him isolated and ineffective in the white house for his single term.

“Who else would choose Guy Fawkes day to do such a thing? They honor a left-wing, terrorist ...”

Guy Fawkes was a Catholic not a leftist and Protestant Britons have a huge celebration every year in his name. You are reaching with this one.

OK, let's just say he is a Terrorist. Although I'm sure most simply associate him with 'V' from V for Vendetta

Thanks traviskicks. Gave at the internet already, LOL. No matter, it will be a great day for him in terms of dollars. Wonder if Hillary will call the chinese for cash, Mitt write himself another check, McCain call his mom to give him his allowance and on and on with the rest of them.

Oh, one more thing, you do know that Guy Fawkes day in the UK is celebrated by burning him in effigy?

True. The Executive Orders implementing his policies would/could be over ruled by legislation coming out of Congress ... adding new law have full force and effect equal to that of the Constitution when the Courts review. Unconstitutional laws made by Congress are few and far between.

Some Executive Orders in an effort to enact his strongly held beliefs of government ... maybe pulling out of UN or closing the IRS. Unlikely you say?

He could through management decisions implement isolationist policies ... by pull all troops home from overseas posts. What would happen to the State Department if isolationist policies are implemented? Our stated foreign policy would be isolation ... not being engaged against terrorists or any others.

With no line item veto he could not stop government spending on welfare and other entitlements. He could reduce the size of Executive Branch Agencies to reduce the size of government. But that does not stop Congressional spending.

Can you imagine this? No, not just ineffective ... down right disastrous.

He’s no more a terrorist than were the Founding Fathers.

One man’s revolutionary is another’s terrorist.
